And its this type of blanket statement which caused everyone to underestimate Trump. You realize that the average Trump support makes more than the average Clinton supporter? These aren't (just) podunk white trash voters propelling him to victory.

^^we'll have to wait on good exit polls, but it's still very likely podunk white trash propelling trump to victory.

Not that in a democracy, you don't have to sometimes cater to podunk white trash.

watch the PBS coverage, they have been reviewing exit polls

its not because of podunk white trash, they largely follow party lines. for example trump won educated voters in tons of places

CNN just said exit polling showed Clinton losing half of union households.

(not sure if that was geographically isolated to say the Upper Midwest or was more national)

The post-mortem on how most (all?) of the polls were wrong will be interesting. Virginia especially shocked me. That looked like a safe state for Hillary for months and she barely won.

you guys called people racists just because they supported trump. no one wants to be labeled a racist anymore so they lied and said they supported clinton.

DNC propped up the weaker candidate and made it their strategy to force republicans to the extreme right

don't blame voters. hold those assholes accountable.

non-college whites may not be uneducated but they clearly believe that the great white savior Trump will bring all of their high-paying manufacturing/coal jobs back by canceling trade deals and stopping immigration. Where the education piece comes in is the lack of any foresight as to what these changes will cause - higher price commodities, less jobs, lower output, etc.

^ I think thats where the anti-immigration and anti-woman presidency come into play. Perhaps even some elements of racism.

Clinton's only path to victory is to win:

New Hampshire or Nevada
Wisconsin
Michigan
Pennsylvania

A lot of people just hate the Clinton dynasty, much like the Bush dynasty now. They are toxic.

One of my coworkers on FB is raging about people voting third party and its their fault that he is winning. Fuck that shit though. The margins are bigger than the bit that the Libertarians are taking.

Nyt is projecting mi, wi, and Mn going trump. That's brutal for Hillary. Looks like New Hampshire should hold for Hillary at least.

At least clinton still has popular vote margin.

Libertarian candidates tend to take away from the Republican party anyway. Hard to rail against them.

I know it has nothing to do with the presidency, but I can't believe that we're going to get 4 more years of McCrory. I was sure he'd get the boot.

Michigan doesn't matter much anymore if she's going to lose Wisconsin, which she will. This looks over unless she pulls off a miracle in Arizona.

^^Yep I'm a pretty conservative dude, but I went pretty big on the L ticket this year and I did not vote for Trump or McCrory. HB2 was just ridiculous to me. Obviously most of the rest of the state didn't see it as a big deal. I figured he was toast because of that alone. That said, Cooper didn't make a compelling candidate either I didn't think. He was just the Democrat alternative. Looks like he didn't get quite enough people interested in him. Damn close though.

I guess some people can just hope that Trump is really a Democrat in disguise and that he's so unpredictable and crazy that he infuriates both parties for the next 4 years.

Eh looks like ignorance wins tonight, at least it's not Cruz.

I honestly really feel bad for the factory workers who think Trump will bring their jobs back, and the people who are frustrated with Washington and think Trump will "drain the swamp" when the "swamp" is republican congress who Trump just became a rubber stamp for.

Wow. Just wow.

So if Trump was so convinced that the election was rigged, could Clinton come behind him and say it was rigged in his favor?

I'm watching the coverage on ABC and I swear if I hear them say "non-college educated whites" or "uneducated whites" I'm going to throw the remote at the TV. I get it, you think everyone voting for him is a stupid knuckle dragger.
