police have volunteered to give brock turner extra security because he is receiving death threats but will refuse to give kap's entire organization and tens of thousands of fans security because he has spoke out against police brutality.

Curious.

Just wanted to point out that it's not the police department, it's the police union making these dumb threats. Specifically some dumb shit union boss.

I like how the police union is demanding the 49ers punish Kaepernick, when they don't seem very proactive in punishing all of their officers who callously murder civilians on a regular basis.

not enough male or straight or football privilege to get enough attention for checking her white privilege and becoming a SJW

from last month
Quote :
""I do wish, when I was younger, that I knew that I was gay. It would have made things a lot clearer for me. Really. Looking back on it, it was so obvious, but it never really dawned on me. Socially, I felt like I didn't know how to be and who to be. If I had known back then, it would have given me more self-confidence."

She also encouraged herself to reach out to others if they are "feeling uncomfortable about speaking out about something."

"Putting yourself out there is hard, but it's so worth it," she wrote. "I don't think anyone who has ever spoken out, or stood up or had a brave moment, has regretted it. It's empowering and confidence-building and inspiring. Not only to other people, but to yourself.""

welcome to the right side of history

Is that just this (pre)season? Cause when he was leading them to NFC title games I'm sure he sold plenty of jerseys. And a bunch of his teammates from those years retired or are on other teams.

Who would possibly sell more nowadays, maybe Bowman, that's about the only guy I'd think. That franchise is so poorly run.

gotta say, i'm not surprised at all that they didn't sell many jerseys during the offseason.

and don't get me wrong, i'm sure plenty of people have purchased Kaep jerseys in support of him. but it's hardly noteworthy that they didn't move many jerseys for their back up QB in the middle of the offseason.

Yeah, but her opinion isn't offering a unique perspective because she is black. That is not why she is brought up in the news. Her opinion is unique from others because she is Kaep.'s mother.

In fact, her own tweets (which I believe the link is referencing), Heidi Russo is not even talking about black oppression. What she said she disagreed with was the manner in which Kaep. was protesting, i.e., disrespecting his country and those who serve, yada yada yada.

But, like, what I'm saying is.... if you give you kid up for adoption at birth, sure you can hope for the best for the little guy... but your opinion on what your child is doing is just an opinion... as meaningless as any other opinion... so like, who gives a fuck what Kaep.'s mother has to say?

LOL...the guy sat during the national anthem. he didn't run into a school and murder people. I don't see how this is "bringing shame to your country" or any of that nonsense. we all fucking know what he is protesting about. he's not burning flags or raping veterans. I feel like most of the people that are really pissed off about him are most certainly oblivious to problems outside of their bubbles and that's part of the problem. some people have no empathy because they can't see outside of themselves. many of these people feel like you have to be poor or have grown up poor to genuinely support the needs of the poor (substitute poor for black).

I'm patriotic as fuck, but I don't expect the next man to be and that's his goddamn American right.

I'm willing to bet that the off-duty gig is hard to come by for most guys at the PD and one of those things where "you got to know somebody." I bet for all the officers who are like "f this dude, we aren't going to provide security" there are like 200 hundred other officers who are like, "f you, will take the money and not say shit."

You're missing the point. She's as much his mother as he is an oppressed black man.

You have no idea exactly how he may have been oppressed over his lifetime. Maybe he got pulled over a couple times more than he would have if he was fully white. Do you know he didn't?

We do know that she gave him up for adoption and forfeited the right to act as his mother in any capacity whatsoever

You know what, you are the one that's right here. If you have a white family take you in and give you money than I guess there are no other ways you could possibly be oppressed. Every time he gets stopped by a police officer he just takes out that picture and goes on his way

i don't think he's saying "hey everybody stop oppressing me" so much as he is using his platform to speak for black people that may not have the same voice/platform as he does.

Can we stop and think about this for a second? we need to separate ourselves from this idea that only the oppressed can speak out against oppression. Quite often, it is those that AREN'T oppressed who have authority, resources, an audience, a platform, political sway, etc... which is needed to being about change. We look at and listen to those role models in our society. So Kaep. doesn't need to be disadvantaged (not saying that he hasn't been) to speak out against an injustice.

I, for one, am very thankful for white abolitionists who spoke out and fought against slavery.

It's not oppression when you are less likely to get shot by a cop when factoring in violent crime. It's a narrative of oppression just like the wage gap myth.

It's not "speaking out against oppression" it's spreading misinformation and more police distrust.
