I have a hard time with this narrative though when it comes to the CMPD. If you knew anything about him, you would know Chief Putney has been reaching out to the community for years to make sure that the police are communicating with everybody and have mutual respect. He and a barber were named Charlotte Man of the Year for their working in outreach. And I think he knows what it is like growing up poor and not being respected by police after his father died on the Roanoke River under suspicious circumstances and was barely investigated by the Halifax County Sheriff's Department. He grew up not trusting cops, so I'm sure he is trying to accommodate them as best he can.

^^It doesn't matter what they tell you, me or anybody else yet. The only thing that matters is obtaining the evidence and presenting said evidence to the SBI, DOJ and the family. Once all have made a determination on whether criminal charges are warranted or not, then either the evidence is held until the court case, or if no case is to be made, then the evidence can be released to the public at the families discretion (which in this case they have said they are fine with that). Otherwise blasting this information either way all over the internet will make it impossible to have an impartial jury that hasn't already been exposed to the evidence and drawn their own conclusions. Unless we are deciding that all police should be tried in the court of public opinion with no due process. I'm all for transparency and not sweeping police violence under the rug, but everybody should have the right to due process.

I have no qualms about putting a bullet into someone who is in my house threatening my family.

But if some jackwagon is out on my lawn beating on my car or something, I'll tell him to GTFO, and if no compliance, then threaten with whatever hardware I have in my house, with the expectation that my wife is inside calling the sheriff, and the LEO will be the one to fix the situation.

No reason to shoot someone over property damage. It just isn't worth someone's life. And, furthermore, it will send you down a legal shithole from where you probably won't recover. Ruin 2 lives for the cost of whatever property is busted?
