i like that pheonix song. i'm d/ling the full album now.

I've been going to some local "rock" shows in Boston lately. Walked by a free outdoor Taking Back Sunday show on my way to see some some good local bands. One stand out is Kid:Nap:Kin (http://www.myspace.com/kidnapkin). Theyre sort of a jazzy melodic hard rock band w/ really really talented members on drums, bass, and guitar. They kicked ass live.

I'm a Damnwells fan...idk how I was blinded from this whole free album in Feb...but well, if you didn't dl it or forgot like me...here's the link.

http://www.thedamnwells.com/welcome/#

you can win tickets to the vinyl show in Atlanta, if you go to Pastes mags contest page.

.....

It wasn't as good as I thought it would be...but well, it's legit free. So give it a chance.

^ seriously? no way... wait for fall to come and give 'and then nothing turned itself inside out' another listen. i think you'll find an album that is way better than 'just okay'

the only YLT album i've gotten into is i can hear the heart beating as one, but that one is kind of all over the place tonally. but "pass the hatchet i think i'm goodkind" is one of the most badass songs ever written.

that's funny, because everyone i talked to said that spoon were lazy and lackluster, especially in comparison with lambchop earlier in the night (who completely destroyed it with their finale: http://www.vimeo.com/5769542)

I figured i'd be able to get a pretty good answer from this thread. For those of you that use iTunes to manage your music, is there any explanation for my iTunes will not download an album coverart that you know for a fact they have in their iTunes store?

have you guys ever heard of So Many Dynamos? (http://www.somanydynamos.biz)

Theyre from St. Louis and i saw em last night. they were really freaking awesome. they completely rocked the venue's face off. he'd hit some synth bass notes sometimes that were about to bring the place down. sort of like Minus the Bear vocals w/ a dash more hipster shit plus some synths. I bought their new CD, so if anyone is interested i can post it up if you can't find it elsewhere.

They were playing w/ Boston band, Pretty & Nice (http://www.myspace.com/prettyandnice), who rock as well.

that reminds that The Legends came out with a new album mid june..I think. The albums called "over and over" there's about 4 songs I liked..

btw, I came out with a new song yesturday...I'm not amazing or anything. But I kind of liked the new one, so I thought I'd share..It starts out slow, but give it a chance. http://www.myspace.com/jonnyfrankhimsel The song's called "before it all began"

^^^ you think the album is that bad? it has some absolutely killer rock songs on it and it has received majority positive reviews. its certainly not my favorite of the year or anything, but it seems to me that anyone who enjoyed SOTP would enjoy this one as well; it is not a huge departure from that but still unique in sound.

one word of advice: if the only version you have heard is a leaked version, most of the leaked versions were dubbed off of a misprinted CD. The result was a version of the CD that was slowed down and lowered in pitch. The non-screwed up version sounds a lot better and his voice sounds much better. Honestly his voice on this record sounds exactly the same as it did on SOTP for me (but it was a noticeable change on SOTP as far as the scratchiness, thats for sure).

Its about a 7 for me.

PS And congrats to them, their highest billboard debut to date at #126! (also Tragic Hero's highest).

that is absolutely crazy...and actually makes sense. no wonder the cd sounded like asshole. his voice sounded like he was 2 octaves lower than anything they've ever done.

if anyone finds a new link for the record, post it. thanks!

yea I don't have the album yet but I really like what I have heard and am expecting a solid album. The bands these guys are coming from are definitely solid (namely The Format and Anathallo) and the little bit I have heard so far hasn't given me any reason to doubt that the album will be one of the better ones in '09.

the radio slot has passed of course but:

Quote :
"Tune into BBC Radio 4 at 8.50 AM GMT (3.50 AM EST) to hear a brand new Radiohead song entitled 'Harry Patch (In Memory Of)' played for the very first time.

Harry Patch was the oldest man in Europe, and the last surviving trench veteran of the First World War, until his death on July 25.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/default.stm

Update: The song can now be streamed (for free) and downloaded from the band's official website now for £1 sterling. All proceeds will go to the British Legion.
