if i recall correctly the plan was to send Rob Arryn on a tour of the Vale, which would ultimately lead to his death. Then wed Sansa to the next in line of succession and claim the rights to Winterfell.

This season...Jamie and Brienne being back for the Purple Wedding was pretty big. The whole Locke being in the North thing I don't remember at all. The Grey Worm and Missandei stuff is made up. Tommen isn't a pudgy little 10 year old. Davos and Stannis don't write and go to the Iron Bank. Shae is all over the place. Lysa never knew who Sansa was.

Thats all I can remember from this season, but I know I'm missing a lot. I'm not complaining...I'm just saying that it wouldn't surprise me to see them deviate a lot.

The part where Littlefinger pushed Lysa out the moon door was in Feast for Crows right? I seem to recall that the last thing he said to Sansa was that he was going to give her the North.

Nah, he pushed Lysa in the third book

But there's more discussion about marrying Sansa to Hardyng (the heir if Robin dies) in A Feast for Crows

so then they can later reveal her true identity and claim the North

I thought Lysa did know who she was in the books but they were hiding it from everyone else. Though it's been awhile, so I could be confusing the books & the show.

Wtf no Stannis this episode?

Ok, now I don't know how much they can really cram into the last episode

Stannis for sure, but maybe no Lady Stoneheart? I guess we'll see...

i could have seen him showing up in the show tonight just to save some time, but this is actually staying closer to the book.

Yeah, it's more accurate to the books if they wait

But I thought they'd be done with the wall after this episode: apparently not

Stoneheart would still be good next season, I suppose

It'd be nice if they just saved Stannis in the North for next season and spent the whole next episode in King's landing.

I didn't watch the episode, but I ready the summary.

Ok I'm confused...I remember the last we see of John, he's being attacked by his own men, but according to the summary, he goes off on his own to find Mance. Am I forgetting something in between?

If I'm not forgetting anything, this seems like a major deviation between the book and the show.

If you are referring to the last we see of Jon in the last book where he is attacked by his own men, then you are forgetting a whole hell of a lot, and we are not even close to that point yet.

In the books they are attacked by the party from the south and a small party from Mances army in the north, just as we saw in the show last night. In the books I believe after that is when they find out Jon had briefly joined up with the wildlings, and he is imprisoned briefly then made to go treat with Mance and hopefully kill him, which gets us back to where the show ended last night. Then Stannis comes and whoops ass, then later Jon becomes lord commander of the watch, sends Sam off, pardons the wildlings if they agree to fight with them, Stannis leaves, then Jon is attacked by his own men

I'm rereading the books now, I'm on book 1. It isn't going very quickly as I have a 1 year old and no time to read now.

At least they died noble deaths, though.

didn't Magnar die ascending the stairs when they destroyed them to cut them off from Castle Black... guess there wasn't cgi budget for that (i.e. the chain in blackwater)

I don't even think the show Wall has stairs, just the elevator. It was a pretty good episode overall, although Ygritte's death with the head nod was campy as hell. That's ok though, with Stannis showing up in the next episode and Jon finally looking like a proper hero, they can salvage both their storylines from here. I'm sad Grenn and Pyp were killed off, but it almost had to happen. There are going to be so many new character arriving at the Wall soon, and there's only so much face time to go around.

After episode 10, I think some people might stop watching. I think they're gonna get tired of the main character kill-offs. Apparently a lot of people really liked Oberyn. But some out of the 18 million that are watching are just a drop in the bucket, so it won't matter.

My money says they don't kill off Shae, just Tywin.

Why would they do that. I dont think anyone cares about Shae. I'm sure they are both gone. And there aren't too many other major character deaths from here until Jon in book 5 as far as I remember. And we will be getting some awesome new characters soon in Dorne and in the North, so I doubt people will care.

I can't think of any purpose Shae would serve and she isn't an interesting character so why would they keep her around?

He's not going to "die" in episode 10 though...that happens at the end of book 5 (I think??).

Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, Jon, and Daenerys will all still be alive after this season....so plenty of people will continue to watch.

And besides, they've already shown you Tyrion's hands chain and the necklace he gives to Shae

either would be well-used for her strangulation

Has anyone in here talked about the Mance Rayder = Rheagar Targaryen theory yet? I just read about it. It's got some solid interesting points... along with solid reasons to dismiss it.

Mance was raised by the watch since he was a baby. Kinda hard for him to be rhaegar

you mean instead of him dying at the trident? I haven't read that but timing and age don't really seem to make sense for that. Rahegar would only be in his 30's and as far as we know mance is well known to have been taken in by the nights watch as a wildling child.

There are really only 3 theories I can get behind and one isn't even really a theory

1: R+L=J. Probably the most common accepted

2: The gravedigger on the quiet isles is sandor clegane

3: not even really a theory, but ser Robert strong is at least the reanimated body of Gregor clegane. Assuming the skull sent to dorne was actually Gregors and he's got some kind of crazy zombie head now

I'm in the Jon Snow is Azor Ahai camp

And Dany is the prince that was promised

I'm on the fence about the Last Hero. Could also be Jon Snow/Azor or could be Bran,

Odd that Varys seems genuinely worried/surprised that Tyrion killed Tywin, when in the books it was Varys who tells him how the secret tunnels go all the way up to the Tower of the Hand. That last shot even made it seem like Varys was going to the free cities with him.

Also obviously the Brienne/Hound fight wasn't in the books, but considering both those stories are different I wasn't as surprised as the last point because it seems like it's been building to this.

Did the children of the forest have true blood fairy bombs in the book?

Nope. It is rumored that they can use magic of sorts but that is about all it says about it in the book. That one little girl child of the forest (who is probably actually thousands of years old) is the only one that they actually see in person. The whole skeleton attack thing didn't happen in the book.

I also thought it was whitewalkers that attacked them in the books and not skeletons...but I could definitely be wrong on that one.

Although it wasn't in the book....I thought the Brienne/Hound fight was awesome.

i'm pretty sure they were attacked by wights on the way up to the cave, not white walkers. last night we figured the skeletons were the same as wights, just super decomposed.
