course its not that much work...just some yahoo shit...pretty cool...i would say i know about a fair number of golfers, which is mildly impressive considering the only time i really follow golf is fantasy golf, or what i learn through tiger woods video games 3/13/2007 3:54:21 PM |

just got done walking RGA. started me on Stockholders then finished off on the front 9. greens on SH were fantastic, greens on front 9 of normal course were shit. apparently they just aerated yesterday. couldn't decide whether to use my putter or my sand wedge. all in all not too bad. 43-42 for the first time out this season. driver was amazing, wedges were amazing. putting was horendous and iron game was so-so. i'll call it an 85 because i'm trying to establish a handicap, but in my mind it was an 80-82 because of the terrible greens 3/13/2007 4:47:31 PM |

i managed 8/9 greens and 6/7 fairways today on rocky river in concord
greens were punched so i ended up with a 37 on the front nine, no birdies
but im happy with the ballstriking, i am looking forward to playing several amateur events this year if anyone might have some knowledge, in raleigh, pinehurst, charlotte, or maybe winston.
let me know if anyone knows where to play some good tourneys. 3/13/2007 8:55:13 PM |

I hit some balls and putted a little at knights play today. There was a bad wind in my face so I only hit a half bucket cause last time I did that I developed the s***ks. First time touching a club since january though so that was nice. The putting green at Knights play is in damn good shape right now....its usually not worth practicing on but today was nice. 3/15/2007 7:44:04 PM |

Just got back from Scottsdale, Az. today. Golf courses out there are amazing. Expensive, but a lot of fun and really, really nice. If you ever go to Arizona for anything, take your clubs. I played three times at the following courses.
http://www.scottsdalesilveradogolfclub.com Shot 89
http://www.kierlandgolf.com Shot 80
http://www.gcgr.com Shot 87
All scores from tips. Had a case of the s-words at the first course that didn't cure til the back.
Also, a really good site for discount golf if you're traveling, http://www.golfnow.com

Anybody know anything about club fitting. Carolina Custom Golf told me I need +1" extension on my club because I'm 6'3" and my "wrist to floor" measurement is 35" but http://www.golfsmith.com and http://www.TGW.com have this online fitting thing based on those measurements and they say I only need +1/4" extension. Anybody familiar with this shit, or used to work at a golf shop? 3/19/2007 10:42:55 AM |

there was a member at the club i used to work at who was 6'8" and we extended his clubs 3/4", so for you, an inch seems extreme. obviously that doesn't take into account arm length, but an inch more is going to be a tough adjustment. i'd suggest trying clubs of differing shaft lengths and see what fits (or just do an actual club fitting) before doing anything to your own clubs. 3/19/2007 11:44:49 AM |

go get fitted. They will watch you swing and measure the lie angle at impact and fit you accordingly. Height has nothing to do with it. It has everything to do with posture and swing plane....now obviously if you're taller than someone but have the same swing plane and posture, you need longer clubs than they do...but get it checked out first.
nevermind, sounds like you got fitted so do what they told you unless you've been told otherwise by a teaching pro. Its better do go by what you were told in person unless they didnt put that tape on your club and have you hit that plastic board to measure the lie angle. it is more than likely that your wrist angle changes from address to impact.

Yeah I was fitted, and I bought the clubs. Thing is...Carolina Custom Golf fits you one of two ways, they either order them from the manufacturer to your specifications, or they rip the grip off, shove a lightweight metal rod down in the shaft, cut to the proper extension length, then regrip it and BAM! you're clubs are ready. They didn't even tell me the shipping off option, they just said that's how it was done. I got Mizuno MX-17 which I don't really like...they robbed me 1 club of distance all the way down the board...but I'm thinking it might have something to do with the added length/weight. Who the fuck knows...maybe I'm destined for be an 11 for the rest of my life. 3/19/2007 3:54:45 PM |

it isnt supposed to be common policy to lengthen clubs using plugs on the end of the shaft. Thats usually done with wedges and putters where your swing speed isnt as great. Maybe thats what they do now but I know a clubmaker/repair guy that wont lengthen anything longer than a 9 iron or PW unless you get a new set of shafts. 3/19/2007 9:19:36 PM |

I'd be afraid to play that shit though for fear of it fucking up my real golf swing...haha. It would be kinda like hitting balls into a net, thinking you hit it well, but you were only perfecting a snap hook without knowing it. 3/21/2007 12:39:53 PM |

Went to Knight's play last night and had a case of the "s" words (rhymes with cranks) so, took out my hybrid, punched or bumped everything and managed to shoot 12 over. 9 over on the front was with two triple-bogeys thanks to the "s" word-fest, then started dropping pars using the bump-hybrid, a sand wedge and my putter. I'm hitting it off the hozzle everytime I take a full swing. Like I line up with the ball in the center of the club face, then when I come down somehow it hits the hozzle, it's so fucking retarded. Any ideas how to fix it? 3/23/2007 8:15:21 AM |

It wasn't that bad. We had two foursomes go out (lot of betting) and we had tee times, so we didn't have a problem getting off. The guys in front of us were a little slow, and there was a twosome behind us, so they were always waiting, but there were 4 foursomes ahead of us so it was pointless to let them through, plus we were trying to keep our two groups together. I tried that addressing it at the toe on the range before we started playing and it was working okay, but then shit fell apart on the course - I don't know how the fuck I go from shooting 80 in Scottsdale, Az. last week to shanking wedges this week - very, very frustrating. Thanks for the advice. 3/23/2007 8:32:17 AM |

The Neuse isnt that bad. I played it about a year and a half ago and it was a nice course but the greens were garbage, even had a temp. green on 18. I dont remember the fairways being narrow...as a matter of fact I remember the opposite. The problem is that if you miss the fairways on some of the holes, you're at the top of a hill so the ball goes down into a bunch of shit and you're either lost or unplayable. It was a fun course though minus the shit greens. Its usually not that bad. 3/23/2007 9:58:51 AM |

yeah, done that before. Luckily, this was the local golf shop owner's own club, so he let me use it for a while in the back of the store. He also doctored it up a bit with weights in the head and top of the shaft. Perfect balance. I have never hit a sweeter club. 3/23/2007 1:27:21 PM |

MyFilosophy...try hitting a whole bucket of balls while hitting each shot WAY off the toe of the club face...then try swinging normal...alot of times this helps me when i start getting the shanks...also, you are probably having a problem w/ ure weight shift to your downswing....so first and foremost, you want to be on the balls of your feet at address and when you take the club back try and transfer most of your weight to ure back foot, then in the downswing, make a concscious effort to transfer your weight from your back foot to your front foot w/out getting off balance on the balls of your feet...a lot of times people shift slightly forward, changing the path of their swing...so watch out for that...hope this helps lol 3/24/2007 7:54:43 AM |

Weight shift is important, but dont sway...
Also, I can almost guarantee that you're coming over the top on your down swing if you're s***king the ball. I'm a scratch golfer when I've played more than once in 5 months and I have gotten them after some of the best rounds of my life just because my swing path gets screwed up a little.
Really try to come from the inside at impact (obviously dont overdo it) and make sure your right elbow is coming back to your right side on your downswing. 3/25/2007 10:10:22 AM |
