serious question:

what's the unwritten rule on the penalty for not hitting a drive past the ladies tee?

is it drop pants and take next shot or drop everything and take next shot

I always heard you had to pull your dick through your shorts/pants for the whole rest of the round, even when the cart-girl came by and when you went and turned the cart in. I haven't not hit a drive past the ladies tee in years, but the pants down for just the next shot sounds a little less harsh.

Thanks for all the S-word help...I forgot to mentioned I'm lefthanded, so I just switch the "rights" and "lefts."

There are different rules. The only one that I've actually see people follow through on is play the rest of the hole with your pants down but you can keep your underwear on. We joke that you have to pull your dick out for the rest of the hole, but we're not gay enough to enforce it. We just laugh at the person who didnt hit it past the ladies tee and ask if her husband plays.

Anybody know of any good, but reasonably priced golf instructors in the area? I want to get some of the kinks out of my swing and get more consistent.

I live in Fayetteville, but I am willing to drive to Raleigh (or anywhere in between) for a few lessons if need be.

I think The Neuse has some reasonable package deals. It's in Clayton, so you wouldn't have to come all the way to Raleigh. As far as instruction in Fayetteville, I used to live in Hope Mills - I wouldn't go to Baywood or Cypress Lakes. Bayonet in Raeford is nice and Gates Four is too. I'm pretty sure they all give lessons. Also give Dark Branch a try, or whatever the fuck it's called now.

^ ncstatetke, I think I played on your softball team during the summers. I was friends with Scottie and Teddy, I was the tall, lanky, lefthanded kid that played first base, Charlie.

walked 18 at knights play today. Shot 2 over and birdied the last 2 holes on the middle 9 to shoot even on the back side. We started at about 6:30 and finished at 9 so it was dark. I didnt like playing like that at first but I got used to it. Greens werent terrible at Knights play so that was nice but its hard as fuck to read those greens under the lights.

I need to go play some real golf. I might play some this weekend.

for real. I hate not being able to let the big dog eat. Not that I'm a terribly long hitter, but hitting my driver and 3 wood is the best part of playing golf.

Me and some buddies are playing Lochmere tomorrow. Got it for $19.50/player through http://www.lastminutegolfer.com. I thought that shit was retarded at first and only used it for the course map and handicapping feature, but they got some steals man...especially if you book only one day in advance...it's better than most student rates, so I don't need my old ID anymore. Anybody seen the greens? They punched them about 2 1/2 weeks ago, guy in the golf shop they were running true again...but being Lochmere, I don't believe it.

well, most of the prices I have seen were like $50 per lesson. A little less if you got multiple lessons. That's kind of what I am expecting.

I have called around a bit, and most of them do, but I was hoping for a recommendation so I know I will get my money's worth. Dark Branch closed last month, too. Sucks, because it was a good place to get warmed up on before real golf.

Played yesterday and saturday. Shot 68 at the shitty course on saturday. I dont know what got into me. Yesterday I played at Keith Hills and shot 76. Wasnt a bad round considering I had never seen the course before and started playing army golf on the back nine. I think i was 5 over in a 4 hole stretch, but then I eagled the last hole after a lucky bounce and made a 6 footer to beat my buddy by 4 shots on his home course.

jocristian, i'm from fayetteville and some decent pro's in the area are Robert Wilson at Cypress Lakes, Jens (pronounced yenz) at Highland CC, and anyone from the Methodist College Golf Team staff (men and women)...they are probably your best bet

however, one of the best teachers in the country works at Pinehurst Resort named Eric Alpenfels...top 100 teacher. I don't think he is too expensive, i have been to him a few times and he's a great teacher and a great guy

hope this helps

I play Keith Hills about once a week. The new course was in real good shape. They did the greens about 19 days ago on the new course and they are almost back to good shape. The greens on the old course are good. The old course however was not in great shape overall. The tee boxes looked awful. They needed to be mown badly and have lots of weeds, apparently they just don't give a shit about keeping up the tees. Everything else was ok, with the exception of holes 5 and 16. They are having drainage/irrigation issues and there is a lot of new sand along the irrigation lines in those fairways where they have recently redone them. Other than that, course was in decent shape. If you're gonna make the trip, play the new course. It is in much better shape than the old course right now, is generally MUCH less crowded, and a good deal easier.

^I disagree except about the tee boxes. Those were terrible, but its not so bad to have two bad fairways...they made an attempt to fix them...thats why they're bad.

The new course isnt nearly as fun. Its one of those courses on great land that looks like they tried to do too much with the dirt movers. Back side is a wide open chip and putt. The old course is a little tighter and there's more to it IMO.

The greens were great on the old course yesterday considering they just punched a few weeks ago. I'm probably going to drive back in the next couple of weeks to play the old course.

In general I prefer the old course myself, but not right now. Once they get the tees fixed there is no major problem. I agree that the back nine of the new course is too easy, but it beats the hell out of waiting on every shot and having to hit a dive off of a dandelion on the old course. Once school is out and the PGM students are home for summer the old course clears out. For the next few weeks however, stick with the new course.

well not only is it out in the middle of no where knightdale. run by rednecks....

so my cousin and i walk in there and present a rain check that he had from a few weeks ago.

guy tells us that its booked but could have us on stand by. so we agree

so we sit outside and my cousin walks in to get some food and the lady that was at the front comes up and says that she would pair us up with another twosome and that she will be right back.

so after about a little bit of waiting my cousin walks in and talks to the guy who was there and pretty muchs says "umm, the lady says we could possibly be paired with another twosome and i just wanted to see if she had any new news"

the guy gets kinda pissy and tells him to just hold off and be patient.
then he says "ill call you OK" and my cousin was like, ok well do you need a phone number or something, and the guy (with more of an attitude) says "NO I DONT NEED YOUR PHONE NUMBER, I AM NOT CALLING YOUR CELL" and a litle bit more went on..

he said "come into my office and we can talk there" and my cousin told him that everyone out here (in the clubhouse) can hear it too, im not going anywhere with you.

so after like 5-10 min of sitting outside we decide its not worth it here at a bad facility to play so we walk in to get a refund and the guy is acting as nice as can be, he asks if we are ready to play and my cousin tells him "no, i would like your card/name" and he wouldnt give us anything so we just asked for a refund and left.

went to hedingham and were treated 100 times better.

people at wilmar look down on you from what i saw today. if you arent a local, or old then dont bother. and a couple golfers at hedingham (young guys our age) told us the same about how they can be buttholes sometimes.

Played crooked creek today....not in bad shape but the greens were still healing from the aeration a few weeks ago. It was much better than the last time I played it.

Played like crap, but it was nice outside, so who cares.

I got that feeling some when I went out there yesterday to play. I was by myself and felt like all of the people there were staring at me like I was foreign to the game of golf. Doesn't much help that my initial drive was horrid. Anyways, a nice lady paired up with me and we went around in a twosome. Played the front nine crappy, especially 4, 5, 6, and 7. I think I forgot how to play for those holes. Shot 47 out and 39 in. Overall ended much better than it started, but I don't know if I will be going back there or not. If it wasn't for the lady I was paired with then I would have felt like an outsider the entire time.

yeh I love Hedingham and will probably go back there or Pine Hollow for future golfing. Don't much think I will return to Wil-Mar anytime in the near future.

The only problem I seem to have at Hedingham is when I lose a tee shot its someone's house that gets the worse end of it. Oh well, it is a fun course that treats people really well...even got in one Saturday without a tee time. Pretty good group of people there...
