Interesting take from the aTm site. They are basically saying that aTm needs to leave the Big 12-2 before the SEC would formally extend an offer of membership, for legal reasons.

listening to Barnhart today, who is about as well connected as you get in the SEC and he said that the SEC did NOT vote against A&M. They didnt vote for them either. They basically tabled it for now and said they were going to wait and not make any decision at all right now.

He also just said that as of right now, Clemson and FSU are not involved at all in discussions but that could change.

And he said he has news about VT and State coming up after the break...

kidding... wasnt really "news", just a good radio tease. Basically just said that VT has a $10 miiiiiiilon dollar exit clause with the ACC so they probably aren't going anywhere now and even if that wasn't around they would have to bring UVA with it and UVA wouldn't want to dumb itself down to the SEC academically. Said that they were the ultimate wine and cheese crowd, even more so than UNC.

As for State, he said it kind of made sense, that State is basically Texas A&M east, always getting shit on by another team in the state, conspiracy theories against UNC (and the N&O writers) etc. but that bball is too important and if State started leaning towards leaving that there would be old timers coming out of the woodwork all over the State to protest to save the bball games against UNC, Duke, WF.

He did say that people have said ECU would be a possibility but they are too small (although they were second to Boise State in attendance among non-BCS schools which blew my mind)
