Yea, it has definitely been slow moving. I am certainly more interested in Merlin as well. When I finish this I am going to read The Book of Merlyn that is technically the conclusion to TOAFK. Hoping that is interesting. I mean I had wanted to read TOAFK for awhile now and was excited starting it but I have kind of been reading it a book/section at a time in between other books I am reading.

I didn't even know that book existed until just a few days ago, but I definitely plan to read it soon.

Though I haven't had a lot of time to read (been crazy busy lately as usual), I have been loving my re-read of the count of monte cristo. Been buying up other Dumas books I see at our local used bookstore to read later; I really like his writing style and the flow and cleverness of his dialogue.

I am on book 7 of The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. It has gone a good bit downhill since around book 4 but the first few are quite good. Not that these middle books are bad (there are 11 total) but it really feels like he stretches every little thing out to make a book; and thinks his readers care about his opinion on economics and socialism.

Overall a recommendation so far; but be prepared to invest time.

Yeah that's how I feel about the Wheel of Time Series. They started to slow down toward book 6-7. I took a break with the Lord of Chaos.

Yea I gave up on the Wheel of Time series. Maybe someday I'll pick it back up...

It was a decent story and the first few books were good but overall it just felt longer than it needed to be and started to drag on too much for me.

Yeah Daemon and Freedom look pretty interesting. I'll check them out.

I ALWAYS flip throught he Dark Tower series and keep meaning to read them. I've read a few other Stephen King books and enjoy his writing. I've just never gotten around to reading them.

How about Assassin's Apprentice? I've heard good things, and my dad really enjoyed Hobb's Liveship Trader's series.

annnndddd I just got the new Kindle and it's so easy to buy books (sadly they're just as easy to pirate but i'll buy). They're so cheap too. Plus it's awesome because they sync to your phone if you don't have your Kindle with you.

I have to say

I didn't read the Dark Tower series. I listened to the audio books. The two narrators that King let do it did an amazing job and really brought it to life.

Same with Daemon and Freedom(TM) actually. Though a friend read those two and still really enjoyed them.

Cool. I may have to check that out...it seems more and more that I might actually benefit from listening to some audio books. Mainly because of the lack of time to sit down and really read as long as I would like to lately. I listen to music all the time while I am at work, just not sure if I could concentrate on both work and an audio book well enough at the same time.

^^My girl listens to audiobooks whenever she's driving. She also raved about the readers for King's Dark Tower series. It's one of my favorite series, and it was really cool to have someone bring it to life for her.

I have. It's a pretty good series. I'm glad it ended where it did. Any more/longer books in the series would have really drug it out too long. It's a good read.

The Dark Tower series is a must read, especially the first four books in the series. The song of Ice and Fire is really good if that fat fuck would ever finish it. Terry Goodkind, Terry Brooks, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss, Greg Keyes, Scott Bakker, Guy Gavriel Kay, David Athony Durham are all worth checking out.

i've also read hobb's three trilogies...i like the farseer trilogy best, followed by the liveship traders, and then finally the tawny man...worth a read, IMO

I'm just getting into this. It's almost frustratingly withholding with its details about what's going on, but the language keeps drawing me forward. I don't know what the quality is, but I just love reading the author's descriptions and explanations.



I'm really enjoying how this author is building on the world and characters created in the original book of the trilogy (Inkheart). I also love all the allusions to other books; she frames each chapter with an excerpt from another book, just as she did in the original. It's surprisingly effective, and it's all the more fun when I've read the book she references.
