I'm on Azgalor Alliance (ugh, the things I do for friends).

I can't remember when I last posted in this thread but my holy paladin has been my main for over a year now and the only thing I've bothered to get to 85 so far. My work schedule leaves me not much time to play, and I quit for a few months in Wrath because of that + boredom. Enjoying Cataclysm so far though.

12/12 in 25 man now... only boss that gave us trouble (other than the TWC lag issue) was Nef. It seems that jumping onto platforms from liquid is hard for some.

leveling up a goblin priest, and I've really enjoyed the new quests. Just got done with badlands and searing gorge, and don't feel like continuing to burning steppes...

I want some new scenery, but Ungoro and winterspring are both long hikes because I haven't grabbed many flight points.. I've always like those zones though, and if they've revamped the quests like every where else it would probably be worth it.

So has anyone leveled in those zones since cata? Any changes worth checking out? Or where else should I go at 50?

Digging all the new quest chains I've been through so far...though with leveling 1-60 as easy as it is there's not way I can see everything on 1 toon...might have to do another on down the line.

^^ Un'Goro for sure. They changed the layout so you don't have to go all the way to the north to do the quests and my favorite quest line in the game is in that zone.

anyone else being afflicted with the massive lag thats been happening the past few evenings? It seems to have been dubbed the 8pm time warner lag, and a lot of my friends are experiencing this. Pretty much impossible to raid while this is going on and blizz hasn't even said shit about it yet.

i shot up to 300ish last night around 9. Dropped back down to 90ish and then back up again. Whats weird is my vent ping is very low. I'm guessing its the servers.

Mine's had odd lag spikes over the past week or so, but it's very noticeably a server lag issue. Everything will just stop then pick right back up, rather than client lag where server side stuff keeps going then dumps you in the middle of whatever happened in the meantime.

Yeah, it's cool. Marshall's refuge has been abandoned and is a wreck. You do actually end up visiting there, but the logical progression makes more sense and you get more done in the south. Make sure you visit Maximilian of Northshire.

wiped on cho'gall all last night in 10m. After 4 adds die and you get the slime spawns, i don't see how you can control them without a frost mage. We had two hunters dropping traps and those fag things wouldn't die.

you need to phase cho'gall before the 4 set spawns. your raid's dps must be really low.

all dps is over 11k. We were tanking in the middle of the room. A lot of vids im seeing they tank him a lot closer to the adds, then move back on the 3rd spawn.

I never would have thought our raid dps was low but we had to 2 heal Cho'gall to kill him. With 3 heals we hit the beserk timer after 7 adherents. Our dps is consistently ranked in the top 100's on WoL. http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/x6q39ijcpj2q64i4/sum/damageDone/?s=4490&e=4954. Even with 2 heals we still got the 4th Festering Blood and didn't push Cho'gall until after the 5th Adherent spawned (luckily nothing bad happens if you do that and Cho'gall actually kills the add himself). We had a fire mage, surv hunter, shadow priest and rogue on the oozes. The last set did manage to get to the raid but no one took any hits.

My question is htf do you do Nefarian 10 man. Add control in P1 was horrible by any class except a tank so we had to use a 3rd tank. 3 heals, 3 tanks and only 4 dps... Seems wrong but with no beserk timer I guess you can do it. We couldn't make it past 1 Electrocute without someone dying (usually our prot paladin).

never saw P2 all night. I think that attempt was 32% and wiping on the 4/5th adherent spawn slimes...we even bloodlusted at the start just to see if we could see P2.

If you don't have a paladin I don't know how viable two healing is. It was very rough on the healers at the end, we had to be very good at interrupting the eye stalks or people would fall over.

Seems like everyone's dps in your group should be just a little bit higher. We tanked Cho'gall close to the pools at first and then moved him farther and farther back as we got more pools. That way melee downtime wasn't as bad. Both your tanks should be around the same dps/damage done, whichever is low needs to pick it up some.

I just ordered a GA-P43. Hopefully that will fix my 5FPS in major cities. I know they tweaked the graphics with cata and it's all about DX11 now, but I should still be fluid on "Good" with a C2D 6400 and an 8800 GTS 640MB right?

I'm using a piece of shit MSI 945P as a backup right now and that's the only thing I can think of.

Pay extra for something that shouldnt be broken in the first place?

I get 50-70ms during non peak times. 100-200 during peak times outside raids. MAJOR lag inside raids. 800ms + 5-10 second lag delays.

It has nothing to do with Blizzard and everything to do with AT&T. The reason you have no issue on your realm but you do in instances is because the instance servers are not in the same datacenter as the realm servers. My realm server is in Dallas but instance server is in Chicago, I had the same issues you are talking about. In instances I would be around 1200ms and get 5-10 second lag spikes, we actually killed Al'Akir for the first time with 2 of us lagging like that. Also got DC'd every phase 3. Got wow tunnels and now I have 40ms ping to the instance servers and no lag whatsoever. Definitely worth $3.

This actually brought me from 300ms to 50ms. Also if anyone has giganews diamond, the VypreVPN they offer seemed to help as well in the beginning. I rarely ever have issues with Suddenlink's latency anywhere (I get 18ms to west coast dns servers 24/7) but for some reason after I came back for cata my ping was terribad. Decided I would try the tcp ack fix and boom.

I was pretty much worthless in my raid last night, so I guess I will give this a try before telling them to replace me.

I also have this fix, but I still have up to 700 ping and crippling lag spikes in raid instances.

If your route to the instance server's datacenter is hosed as Azaka suggested then there really isn't anything you can do other than use a VPN. If you have to go that route and also use DSL, I would see about calling your provider and finding a rep that knows what error correction is. Have them disable interleaving (enable fastpath) and if your line stats are good enough your average ping will go from 60ms to 20ms. Any improvement in the initial hops will only help you.

If it's CenturyLink, the key is usually going online for support and telling them you use VoIP. Don't ever mention gaming as the reason you want lower latency. They're usually skeptical about doing this for people because sometimes it can cause errors to build on your line and instead of resetting the modem, customers will call in every two weeks saying their performance is shitty.

I'm on Time Warner in Charlotte. The only thing I've been able to find out is that a lot of people are having this problem and can't raid. I guess I will call them and see what they tell me.

TWC will tell you the same thing they've told everyone else. It's not their problem and/or they can't do anything about it. Which is true, a customer support person isn't going to have a clue or be able to do anything that will improve your situation. We have several people using wowtunnels to raid now and it works great.

Just don't use it if you have a dail-in authenticator because it will get your account locked.
