So it looks like this was another case where police orders were not met. The book thing was obviously a lie. From the way the lady was talking "don't do it" it almost sounds like suicide by cop.

I can't really see anything in the video, but the basic progression seems to be:

Wife to cops: Don't shoot him, he doesn't have a weapon, he didn't do anything wrong
Cops: drop the gun! drop the gun!
Wife to Keith: Keith, don't do it, just get out of the car

Then the shooting starts.

So the initial police claim he was charging with a gun was a lie
The subsequent claim a photo showed a gun by his feet also turns out to be a lie

no wonder they didn't want to release the video they have.

Video also shows the wife telling cops fairly clearly the guy has a traumatic brain injury.

Typically, at least in my world, the phrase that immediately follows someone's name is aimed at the name just referenced. I usually don't say someone's name, then immediately afterword say something to someone else.

Keith, don't do it...that is a phrase obviously aimed at her husband.

The video isn't the greatest quality but I think I see the gun next to the feet of the LEO in the red shirt.... it appears that he moves over to step on it to secure it and it blends in with his black boot. Also if this is the case it would match up with the angle from the photo... just what it appears to me but the quality is so bad I could be wrong. Though I don't see a book either.

Man, all but one cop (the one that pulls up in the video I think) are in plainclothes, except for vests (which don't count as uniforms or badges IMO).

Like it or not, people in plainclothes pointing guns at you and shouting orders is less cut&dry than a uniformed cop doing it.

Have they released what the unrelated warrant they were trying to serve was for?

^^first cop (and I'm assuming his ride along) are both plainclothes in an unmarked car. Police cars and uniforms don't show up until after the video is rolling, really only 30 secs before they start shooting.

I was trying to figure out how he got from inside the truck to behind the truck on the ground. The camera was so jumpy I couldn't tell regular speed.

I paused and went almost frame by frame and was able to see him standing behind the truck at the 1:07 mark right before shots fired. It didn't look like he rushed at anyone but again you can't tell anything about whether he was holding a gun or not.

Have any of you watched the video, its obvious that they are all putting on gloves, i think during the video you can clearly see 2 or 3 dropped to the ground while the cops are putting them on.

He may have been reading a book in the car, having a book does not exclude a person from having a gun.

They do plant evidence all the time, but barring some conspiracy here, it seems obvious that these cops didn't just roll up to kill random black people and plant guns on them after the fact.

The dude coulda been frightened or disoriented by the officers, especially when they weren't wearing their uniforms. And there's certainly nothing kind or convincing about their voices shouting at him to put the gun down.

He also mighta been in the vehicle contemplating suicide and gone with the police instead.


Regardless, the whole thing sucks.
