It was a departure from the first episode of last season, and i think a lot of people are going to be turned off because of that, but it was still a good episode. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I enjoyed it. A little slow at parts but it will probably pick up steam in the next few episodes.

So clearly the red headed kid isn't really Colin Farrell's son. I'm thinking the guy that Vince Vaughn gave him wasn't the real rapist and he just wanted him taken out (with limited police investigation) for some reason. Afterward he has evidence to blackmail Farrell if he needs to in the future and he gets a friend in the police department.

Also curious about all those knives and weapons and stuff that Rachel McAdams had. With all that stuff she better do something badass in the near future.

lol it was definitely knives and batons. I don't know what the name of them are but there were those things you hold in your fist and the blade goes between your middle fingers (kind of like a Wolverine claw I guess?). She had a wooden dummy thing to throw knives at too. Also when she was getting dressed in the locker room she strapped on a few knives on various parts of her body.

Maybe she was attacked at some point and is now super paranoid about being unarmed.

I did not find the first episode slow. It set up numerous arcs for the season, and already tied 4 desperate characters together in the very first episode. Actually, I think it was quite fast. Normally, on a series like this, they'd likely develop the characters for several episodes before bringing them together.

My thoughts- new theme song fucking blows compared to season one's, and Collin Ferrell has got one hell of an anti bullying program. It wasn't as engrossing as first episode of season one, but still was decent and has a lot of potential.

love that it is an anthology. I think that fact will help it attract quality actors like MM, Farrel, and Adams. I think it can also be very defining for Vaughn as well. The fact that HBO made this gives their writers and directors a lot of leeway to really experiment and explore. Its like a sandbox that keeps churning out interesting material.

Amy Adams is going to kill it this season. She was def. my fav. part of the first episode. Very rust coleish in her character. Chip on her shoulder and a little bit of a loaner. Will it hold a candle to the first season? Likely not but that is purely down to Woody Harrelson and MM being better actors. However, I still believe it will be very interesting. Kelly Rielly is going to be very good too, I like her character a lot more than Vaughn's.

This episode reminded me of the 1st show of every game of thrones season.

Nothing but setup. And we might get a lot more of it till any real payoff.

I've really liked the season to this point - not on the level of Season 1, but at the same time its kind of hard to compare them. Same sort of depressed tone, but more of a normal cop drama rather than dealing with all the occult stuff of last year.

Interested to see what they do after the last episode. He's still gotta at least show up in flashbacks based on some of the set pics from when they were filming.

he was definitely reacting like he had been truly shot. I figured something was up when they were putting him and Vaughn's character so close...plus his ex said that his kid was his only thing in his life and the kid isn't even his.

I think he's dead and it ties together. The killer had on that Crow hat, which matched the heads on the walls in a way.

Seems like a cult or at least a brotherhood type killing and Vaugh's going to war with them over his money.

RM character is badass, no doubt.

I'm really liking this season so far, the story lines are really starting to develop and I can just see them going all kinds of ways. It isn't S1 but it is unfair to compare anything to that. I am definitely more excited for this show each week than I was GoT or anything else in recent memory.
