So trump’s former body guard, who was with him on his Russia trips, is being paid $250k per year plus lawyer fees out of gop donor money to do basically nothing.

Wonder if Trump has tweeted it yet. Still want to see what Mueller says for obvious reasons.

That headline also specifies no DIRECT proof. It’s easier to say no proof if there really isn’t any.

Donald Trump's supporters are losing it over this story:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/andrew-mccabe-says-he-ordered-the-obstruction-of-justice-case-of-president-trump-60-minutes/

Most of them are referring to it as an attempted coup d'etat, and I've seen suggestions that Andrew McCabe and Rod Rosenstein should be prosecuted for treason and executed.

i only skimmed the story, did they actually approach anyone or just talk about it? i wouldn't be okay with the justice department approaching others encouraging them to use the 25th amendment, but it sounded like they were just counting who they thought were in favor of it and not actually approaching anyone.

The full interview doesn't air until Sunday; however, the 60 Minutes interviewer, Scott Pelley, stated:

Quote :
"There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment... And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the president."

Quote :
"McCabe... says no, [Rosenstein's offer to wear a wire in meetings with President Trump] came up more than once and it was so serious that he took it to the lawyers at the FBI to discuss it."

Laugh all you want, but it would have been a serious issue, and still could be if Trump leaves office on anything other than his own terms. His people are convinced that the Deep State is out to subvert and overthrow their duly elected leader.

I mean, I realize they're itching for any reason to get out their guns to fight off the evil shadowy organization they're convinced are stealing their children and setting up concentration camps, but it doesn't make it any less bat shit crazy and void of basic reasoning.

Two things.

1) this was not applied to Clinton and emails

2) it’s nice that DOJ has stated that the President can’t be charged and now they essentially say if he can’t be charged then no information can be released to cast doubt on him.

I've heard former DOJ personnel make this claim and emphasize why it's important that the congressional committees issue reports that summarize their findings of wrong-doing that don't necessarily constitute criminal violations.

^^A pardon won't mean much given the SDNY charges which Trump can do nothing about. I wouldn't put it past Trump to do it anyway as some stupid symbolic gesture though.

Yeah, but I also just read that it could be seen as (an additional) act to obstruct justice.

In reality, Manfort will probably only serve 4-5 years tops. Our judicial system is totally corrupted by the wealthy.

I’m seeing this a lot and I’m inclined to agree. Though I’d say a better corallary is Bill Clinton’s grand jury deposition.

Sure seems like Trump's relentless attacks have beanten Mueller’s policy of no press.

Isn’t this the same guy that reported the Mueller report would be released in days back in mid February?

“It appears that...”

Seems like total speculation, or worse, based on hearsay fed to the NYT.

It’s clearly moving towards conclusion as evidenced by Muellers staff being reduced from 17 to 11. And it’s clear Trump will not be testifying or interviewed.

But, yes, the media has been relentlessly duped by morons like Giuliani and Ty Cobb into saying it’s almost over for a year now.

For me the staff reduction is just about those areas wrapping up. so that reduction would mean we're about 36% done.

My gut reaction is that this is going to be very, very disappointing and we aren't going to get any conclusive proof of conspiracy.

When Cohen was testifying about how Trump would get shady shit done, he made it clear that Trump has effective ways about instructing people to commit crimes in non-verbal ways. So my guess is that while all of these idiots around him are guilty of a host of treasonous crimes, Trump probably found a way to get them to do it without any concrete proof.

I pray I am wrong, but I just have a bad feeling about this. No matter what happens, shit is going to get really, really ugly pretty quickly.

Maybe I'm misreading you (apologies if I am) but all I'm looking for here is the truth. Based on everything that's currently public, I absolutely believe Trump is a traitor but if this report proves that he is not then I will be relieved and happy, not disappointed. I do NOT want to find out that we were capable of electing a Russian asset to office.

Don't get me wrong, I cannot stand a single aspect of Donald Trump and I absolutely cannot wait for the day he is no longer in office.

I think the only thing that would disappoint me out of this situation is if the report indicates all kinds of Trump/Russian coordination/conspiracy and Congress refusing to do anything about it.

DOJ should have given the full unredacted report to Congress immediately the more I’m thinking about this. The central allegation here is very serious and there’s no reason the elected representatives shouldn’t have all the info.
