You know, even though it's just CONCACAF squads, that's a pretty stout final six.

^^Go Soca Warriors! Now hopefully they make it back to the World Cup, but beat England or some other big name this time. It should finish something like this.

USA
Mexico
Costa Rica
Honduras
T&T
El Salvador.

T&T and Honduras could switch places and so could Mexico and the USA.

Hex Schedule

Feb. 11 Mexico
March 28 @ El Salvador
April 1 Trinidad & Tobago
June 3 @ Costa Rica
June 6 Honduras
Aug. 12 @ Mexico
Sep. 5 El Salvador
Sep. 9 @Trinidad & Tobago
Oct. 10 @Honduras
Oct. 14 Costa Rica

And for Big4Country, here's our Confederations Cup Schedule so you can unleash your boner

Jun. 15 United States vs. Italy 2:30 p.m.
Jun. 18 United States vs. Brazil 10 a.m.
Jun. 21 Egypt vs. United States 2:30 p.m.

Also we have the Gold Cup sometime in the summer, I have no idea why they play that shit every two years, but whatever

That's a heck of a schedule! And I'm not overly excited about the CC, but it's always fun to play a good team when any sort of title is on the line. It's better than playing a pointless friendly. You're lying, if you say you aren't going to at least check the scoreboard, or watch the Italy and Brazil games.

As for the Gold Cup, it's played every two years because it gives a reason for national teams outside of Mexico, USA, and Costa Rica to exist. If it wasn't for the Gold Cup then teams like Grenada, Bahamas, St. Kitts & Nevis. etc would take their ass beating in the WCQ first round and do nothing until the next ass beating.

lol, of course I'll watch the CC games... I haven't missed a US game in years. But looking through this thread, you were the only one that seems genuinely interested in it, like it meant something.

Yeah, I know why the Gold Cup exists... I just think every two years is a bit much, especially considering the region is so crappy that most of the games aren't worth a shit. They recently changed Copa America to every four years and the Euros are every four... I think we should change GC to four years too. It kind of gives it a little more meaning if there isn't a new champion every two years. Not to mention, it's kind of annoying in WCQ years, with all the fixture congestion.

I don't mind having the GC every two years. It's the only title we will probably win in my life time. Like I said, the whole idea is to give the islands a reason to have a team. It's alway fun to watch some no name team win a quarterfinal in the Gold Cup. In 2005 Panama hit the cross bar on a shot inside the 6 yard box. 9 times out of 10 that shot goes in and Panama wins the Gold Cup vs the USA. Then there was Guadeloupe in 2007 who put on a show along with Honduras beating Mexico on a last second goal in the group phase. Lets not forget in 2000 Canada won which is their one shining moment in their history outside of their one World Cup birth in 1986. I enjoy watching.

The Gold Cup is infinitely more interesting than the Confederations Cup. God knows I love watching games where everyone looks like they'd rather be somewhere else.

not a lot of experience out there for the us, but i can only assume Ibrahimovic won't be on the swedish roster, which is a shame, given his current form...i may try and head up to the mexico/sweden match in oakland next week

^Last time they were very focused on winning the Gold Cup, so they could go to the Confederations Cup. They will be taking at least a B+ squad.

It looks like a B squad, so a win would be huge. Our record withought Landon Donovan is not good at all.

i beg to differ. that was a really slow first half...granted its hard to take a whole lot out of this game since both squads arent A material.

but what a strike by Kljestan for the first goal, superbly taken free kick. ive liked wynne so far in this game with his speed out wide, but he did dive, imo, for the pk call.

and lol, when did ching all of a sudden realize he needed to do something on the national team?? that trap and then pass to setup kljestan's 3rd was ala Ibrahimovic. world class foot skills right there...sadly thats about all i see him do this game though which is usual(unless i missed something from not paying attention a few minutes in the first half and 2nd half)

-----------------------------

well, another goal for sweden...i just started to say good thing about wynne and he forgot that you need to play defense too

wow cooper, you will NEVER play for the national team if you cant score in a 1v1 breakaway and have the gk beaten.....that was piss poor..

^ I agree with everything you said. Very slow first half, Wynne looked decent most of the game except for the late lapse, no excuse for Cooper not to finish that 1v1, and as much as I hate on Ching, that was brilliant stuff on that third goal...

Sacha Kljestan is so money though, I've been really impressed almost every time I've watched him play... I hope he makes the most out of Celtic if that transfer goes through. I think there's no doubt he's a first XI US player but the only way that really happens is if Bob decides to drop one of the def. mid's.

its a WCQ and these are just training camp bitches

for the MLS guys not in-season to stay in form (or out of form if you're an MLS hater)

roster won't include at least half of these guys

I'm almost 29. This is exciting! I didn't go to the 1994 World Cup, or 1996 Olympics. I just might get a chance to experience an International soccer tournament in America before I die.

Mexico

Caribbean

Jamaica
Cuba
Grenada
Guadeloupe

Central America

El Salvador
Hoduras
Nicaragua
Costa Rica
Panama

Yes you are not seeing things! There will be no Guatemala at the 2009 Gold Cup, or in 2009 WCQ. What are we going to do without Ruiz flopping?

FORWARDS: Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Brian Ching, Jozy Altidore, Charlie Davies"

Here's the roster for Wednesday's game against Mexico.... 2 of these 20 won't dress, I'm guessing Califf/Davies. Cherundolo is out for the game with an injury as well.

I'm going to guess:

-----------Howard-----------
Heydude--Boca--Gooch--Pearce
-------Bradley---Clark--------
Dempsey----Landy-----Beasley
-----------Ching-------------

^ true that

My opinion of him has changed slightly for the better recently. I mean, he usually just puts in some work, wins a couple of balls and lets Donovan/Dempsey/whoever else do most of the work, which I guess is the smarter thing to do. My hate for him isn't really because of him but because I wish we didn't even have guys like that in the lineup period.. I'd much rather see guys like Altidore

But if he makes the occasional play like he did against Sweden and we win games, I won't complain too much about him.

At least until Jozy's ready 100% for the Nats

rumored lineups

--------------------Ching--------------------

Beasley----------Donovan--------Dempsey

------------Bradley------Kljestan-----------

Pearce----Bocanegra---Onyewu---Hejduk

-------------------Howard--------------------

No word on the Mexico lineup yet, but this is what I am hearing we will see from 'El Tri':

---------------------Ochoa---------------------

Medina -----------Castillo---------Dos Santos

---------------Pardo-----Leandro------------

Salcido-----Galindo---Marquez------Osorio

------------------Sanchez---------------------

probably good you don't understand because I'm sure they're openly cheering for Mexico

decent first half I guess... Timmy came up huge early on, Dempsey had a decent chance, Kljestan hasn't done much in the midfield and I wouldn't be surprised to see Torres on for him some time in the 2nd... I'm usually the first to defend Boca, but he's probably been the worst US player tonight
