This entire conversation has aged terribly and the endless bellyaching by American “conservatives” about this is getting tired.

Fucking Bret stephens is a token "diversity" "both sides" hire anyway. All the "conservative" writers at nyt write the worst bullshit bc they have to make up reasons for their principles that aren't racism and greed, sometimes they can't even be bothered to do that.

The NYT wrote a piece about the Tea Party and acted like it was actually about fucking deficits and didn’t mention once, even in passing, the obvious racial backlash component to it.

Jesus Christ. How is the NYT so bad at this.

(Here’s a roadmap: if your movement makes its entire talking point about one issue and then proceeds to completely ignore that one issue after power shifts, it wasn’t actually about the issue — it’s about something else. Wonder what else it could be? Maybe backlash to a black guy and then full embrace of a bigot).

The NYT is what it is. They've been doing it for a long time. Here's the headline for the Stonewall Riots:

It’s also the difference between being a serious person and not. O’Donnell did the right thing after one mistake. Limbaugh, Hannity, etc can spew nonsense 24/7 (and they do) and they aren’t serious people so no one gives a shit.

The MSM is so ridiculously easy to bully by bad faith rightwing grifters.

Maybe the shouldn't make it so easy on themselves. There is nothing of "bad faith" in asking the media to report all the facts of the story, instead of having a clear agenda to "get" as many republicans as possible. Case in point:

Quote :
"

Ben Penn

@benjaminpenn
·
Sep 3

SCOOP: Trump Labor Department's new sr adviser Leif Olson posted on Facebook that Jewish media "protect their own." In response to my request for comment on Olson's anti-Semitic post, @USDOL says they've accepted his resignation."

SCOOP!!

Quote :
"EXCLUSIVE: The Department of Labor has reinstated Leif Olson, who was wrongfully accused by Bloomberg reporter @benjaminpenn of anti-Semitism."

But according to NYM, Ben Penn must not be a serious person. But this is ok, and all done in "good faith" because Bloomberg eventually edited the original article (but no retraction has been made).

Tuesday: Pay attention to this bellwether election in NC. If Trump can't win this, its a real sign that he's going to lose in 2020.

Wednesday: Look at how small the margin was in the NC election. A real sign that Trump is in trouble for 2020

The reality is that Trump was not on the ballot.

Bloomberg doesn’t expose an isolationist and religious ideology which automatically makes it “liberal”. Anti-global capitalism is pretty ripe in right wing circles right now.

-SNL went easy on Warren and went after everyone else. The contrast was so obvious

-Meanwhile Colbert had HRC on to reinforce the narrative on impeachment.

-Trump posted the actual real election map and CNN ran a segment saying FACTS FIRST: Trump posted misleading, inaccurate election map.

The liberal media worked out today. Did you?

It was a fake. Congrats for falling, YET AGAIN, for a right wing meme. Like clockwork.

Oh, you mean the map that is colored according to land area/counties as opposed to actual number of votes received? Yeah, I can see why someone opposed to reality (like you) would object to that.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/01/politics/trump-impeach-this-map-fact-check/index.html
TIL Huffpost is rightwing propoganda.

When you read CNN's own fact check you can see them admit that the map was pretty accurate except for updates made to totals several weeks after the election and that the main point is
Quote :
"but its overall point is accurate, as far as it goes. Trump won 2,626 counties to Hillary Clinton's 487 in the last presidential election, according to the Associated Press."

They are just mad that the map shows something they don't want to show.
Quote :
"Remember that Clinton won the popular vote against Trump by more than 2.8 million votes. That's a far larger margin than the 543,000 more votes that Al Gore got than George W. Bush in 2000 even while losing the Electoral College."

They want to show popular vote and stick to the narrative that hillary won the popular vote which is why they are mad but that number is just as meaningless in terms of the election. Cabbage voiced the same notion that if they don't show data the way you want it to be showed with spin to match your narrative, they are lying.

The factcheck is honest but the Don lemon segment didn't even go that far. He just talked about how Trump tweeted a "fake map". Theres a big difference between fake and not updated.

Imagine how far right the site must be that someone who consistently falls for rightwing propaganda could still be the furthest left on the site.

It's not merely a notion or opinion: The voting in America is done by people, not by land masses. Sure, if you want to mislead people by painting a huge region (where only like 200 people live) as red to mean "This much of the country voted Trump" you have many opportunities to mislead people. That's the spin.

Pointing out that the population, not the land area, does the voting simply removes the spin. And that's what I and CNN did, despite your whining about it.

I mean it’s pretty shitty that Turkey is basically aiming to massacre Kurds, who are the only reason we defeated ISIS. Of course, ISIS only exists because of our initial fruitless “war on terror” but it’s still shitty to green light a massacre.

Also, “withdrawing troops” is fine but they aren’t coming home. They are literally just going to another corrupt country like mercenaries.

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/14/facebook-zuckerberg-conservatives-private-meetings-046663

Quote :
"Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been hosting informal talks and small, off-the-record dinners with conservative journalists, commentators and at least one Republican lawmaker in recent months to discuss issues like free speech and discuss partnerships.

The dinners, which began in July, are part of Zuckerberg's broader effort to cultivate friends on the right amid outrage by President Donald Trump and his allies over alleged 'bias' against conservatives at Facebook and other major social media companies."
Quote :
"As part of the series, Zuckerberg met earlier this year with Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, who insinuated that Facebook had become a monopoly during a congressional hearing last year; Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has fingered Zuckerberg as contributing to 'the death of free speech in America'; and conservative radio talk host Hugh Hewitt, who has cautioned against a DOJ enforcement action but has called for a 'new regulatory regime' to minimize 'big tech bias' against conservatives.

CNN commentator Mary Katharine Ham, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, AEI fellow and former Washington Free Beacon editor Matt Continetti, Town Hall editor and Fox News contributor Guy Benson, and Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell have also attended the dinners, according to the person familiar with the gatherings. Washington Examiner chief political correspondent and Fox News contributor Byron York also confirmed his attendance but declined to disclose the contents of the dinner because there was a prior agreement that it was off-the-record."

Anyone who watches CNN critically already knew this without a tape of the head saying it. "Came from a right wing source" is not enough in itself to refute a story. I'd be willing to entertain a refute of this story that isn't something lazy like that.

Obviously, anyone who hates Trump is going to ignore this type of story so this type of story can only come from the right. The idea that everything that comes from the right is a complete lie that should be ignored is part of the problem. I disagree with them, I downright hate them but that doesn't mean they can't say things that are true.

This is all just a symptom of trump derangement syndrome. You didn't understand what Ellen had to do with anything but her behavior was showing symptoms of the same disease. Anyone who speaks against Trump is automatically a friend. Anything against Trump is automatically true and anything against anything against trump is automatically fake. Not one bit of logic involved.

I just want to point out that CNN has broadcasted Trump, Biden, Harris, and Warren events live but is only streaming the Bernie event online. Sorry, you people call it "deep state" ("establishment" in certain other countries).

The "deep state" is thwarting Bernie's bid (like last time?) because his election would sound the death knoll of the military-industrial complex and give true power to the people.
