also i just found a pack of wolves and a cougar just north of the 'a' in 'Gaptooth Ride' on the map

shit i was just shooting some wolves who were attacking a woman, a horse and rider got in the way, i accidentally shot them, turns out it was a sherrif

North of Bonnie's ranch theres some really good hunting. I've bagged packs of wolves and a good number of boar.

I've also gotten mauled by fucking mountain lions there several times in a row.

Two funny things happened today one random and one unexpected. I was riding out roaming and this horse bolted passed me so I sped up to see what was going on and this guy hopped off of his horse, ran up to a huge rock and took a piss. I unexpectedly had to duel when I got caught cheating at poker, but I shot the gun out of the guys hand instead of killing him. I got a good laugh from both.

So what horse is everyone using?

I like the American Standardbred myself, the really dark large horse. You can find it pretty easily on the great plains. The other 2 best (Kentucky saddler and Hungarian half breed) are pretty much the same, but I think the Standardbred looks coolest.

I assume the Warhorse is better, but I didn't preorder.

How do you tell? Aside from buying a new one at a store, I haven't found any names or stats for any of the horses.

I found a couple of all black horses, I even managed to lasso one 3-4 times but it bucked me off every time without even giving me a chance to tame him.

I don't think it gives you the name anywhere, but if you go to the stores and compare the colors to how the horse looks you can tell.

The all black one is the American Standardbred. The golden tan one you get on Bonnie's mission is the Kentucky Saddler, and the Hungarian half breed is all white.

I really need to get a lasso, I've tried getting away from story missions to do side quests like I usually do, but I can't capture any of the wanted guys yet.

Oh, and how the heck do you cheat at poker? I've got the suit, but that little arrow comes up and if I try and move the arrow to the center the thing just jumps into the red and I instantly get caught...and I still haven't figured out dueling so that isn't helping either

For those that have encountered the random event where you have to save a guy's buddy from being hanged out at Odd Fellows, how do you pass this mini-mission without the guy dieing? I've tried it several times, each time dead-eyeing all the executioners only to have the guy dangling by the rope at the end.

i also failed it. can you dead eye and shoot the rope first? i dont know how to try the mission again. i also wondered if i'd be able to save that guy's daughter that was kidnapped by the gang if i tried it again cause i felt like i would have been able to shoot the guy that shot her if i'd known he was there a second sooner.

yeah you have to shoot the rope to save the person being hanged. I got very lucky my first time using a pistol from about 500 ft away.

I did a random stranger mission for a marshall who wanted me to catch two criminals running away. So I lasso them and bring them back to the marshall alive. He thanks me and I get my money, and as Im riding away i see him shoot each criminal in the head while they are still tied up. I laughed

I too cannot cheat at poker....I cant keep the arrow anywhere close to the middle.

ok, i guess i just need to get a lot closer, i just started picking the guys off from a ways out and the rope was just too thin to get a lock on. do you know if you can do a quick lock with the aim assist on the rope like you can with the executioners?

Just started playing yesterday. This game is super fun. Last night I tried the whole hogtie someone and put them on the railroad tracks. It's actually an achievement, and it is hilarious.

Also, I was dicking around shooting officers and it turns out, there is a limit to how much they send. I killed about 30 or so, the wanted level went away completely (not the bounty).

it's been a real long time since i've consistenly read a video game message board. I honestly forgot how many little kids and morons post on these things and the level of noobness that there is.

The reason i'm following is if any of you have the ps3 version pre-ordered from Gamestop there is a glitch to getting one of the scraps for the deadly assassin outfit and i'm reading to see if Rockstar has announced a fix. Apparently scrap 3 is to do the bounty for a thief named Mo Van Barr, and he either appears once and never again or never appears at all. Some people have done 50+ bounties with no luck, while others claim to have done a few and he shows up again. I've done maybe 4-5 bounties and haven't seen him yet. But apparently Rockstar through one of their forum reps are addressing this issue. we'll see.
