BMW M135i

Quote :
"The Bavarian auto maker has confirmed it is powered by a straight six-cylinder engine featuring Twin Power Turbo technology and it generates at least 300 PS ( 220 kW / 296 hp) which is passed solely to the rear wheels. The displacement has not been confirmed at this point but it is believed to be 3.0-liters."

hatchback != coupe

and this isn't hardcore like the 1 M.

this is part of the new "M Performance" division by BMW... cars which are halfway between the pedestrian models and the M models.

i did some digging on tuned 335 0-60 time this morning and a guy with no meth apparently has run sub 3.3's during his quarter runs. i also saw a verified 3.1 with meth and a 3.0 on nitrous. i am not much into 0-60 but i will get credit that those are some fast times. i am starting to see more 11.5's out there in the 1/4. i will be the first to admit that straight line is not my deal but it is amazing what aftermarket products are out there for these cars now. if the single turbo really will be in the 4-6k and put down 700whp with stock internals it will be a hell of an accomplishment.

i'm strongly considering trading up from my 04 330ci to a e46 m3. i know some of yall have owned them/have driven them. is it worth it? also looking to go from auto to manual/smg. I might could do that now if the right car comes around, but would probably be looking to move in like 2 1/2-3 months if I make it happen.

any advice?

I wasn't a big fan of my 04 M3. The car was very fun to drive but I definitely prefered the 04 Audi S4 that I owned prior to the M3.

I'm probably going to buy an 06 Audi S4 after I sell my Porsche 996 C4

^^While I've never driven one, I've heard nothing but bad things about the E46 model SMG. I'd stay far far away from that.

SMG sucks. less reliable than manual, harder to sell and does not hold value as well as manual (unless you own CSL). E46 330ci and M3 are two completely different cars and YES it is worth the difference in pay.

I wish I could be more optimistic about the "Ultimate Driving Machine" but ever since the E46s and onward, BMW reliability has been horrific and expensive. The E46s had subframe issues. On top of that, the E46 M3s had Vanos issues. On top of that the M3 SMGs have their own problems with the SMG clutch, transmission, etc. All these cost $$$$.

Even the newer E90s are unrealiable. My friend's 2008 E90 needed new valve lifters at 32K and a new head at <40K.

I can't speak to Audis as I've never driven them. But this may sway me back to the boring but reliable japanese cars (Acura, Lexus, etc).

Is there a way to insert a dialing pause when creating a contact? I want to be able to use my calling card to call internationally without pulling out my phone while driving.

for real. this place is terrible. I made the mistake of buying an M Roadster from them a few years ago on a total impulse decision. The rear plastic window in the top was cracked and he said it could just "zip out" and zip in a new window, which he had supposedly ordered and was going to send me. In addition, the radio didn't work and "all it needed" was a new amp, which he had "already ordered" and would send me. bought the car with cash. Needless to say, I never got either the window or the amp. Turns out the stero was totally gone and I had to order speakers that would fit that particular rare size, which were expensive as shit. Had to buy an amp and head unit too. The zipper around the window was totally coming off the top and so I had to replace the top to fix the back window.

I thought it would end there. it didn't. the first time it rained, water just poured in from everywhere. the seals were all shot. had to pay tons to get them replaced and it still just bandaided the problem. little things just broke all over the place. buttons fell of the console, the glovebox started sagging adn eventually broke. gauges stopped working, etc. the car literally fell apart except for the engine.

I should have known better, and will in the future. When you go to a "dealership" that doesn't have a physical address and you call a guy named "Ace" that comes to meet you in a bad part of town at a warehouse full of cars it should have been a major red flag.

Tried to report them to the BBB but they had so many open files I couldn't even file one. I found out in March that him and the other guy he worked with were arrested for falsifying titles, and for charging NC "taxes" to non-NC residents, which constitutes fraud. They were brought up on like a hundred counts of fraud and other charges.

FUCK THOSE GUYS

BBB doesn't look *that* bad: http://www.bbb.org/greensboro/business-reviews/used-car-dealerships/es-motorsports-in-greensboro-nc-33046726 ...but not good either.

Woah this is no good: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=605737

"N.C. DMV Arrests Greensboro Car Dealer for Charging Illegal Fees Thursday, February 23, 2012

RALEIGH — NCDMV License and Theft Bureau inspectors on Wednesday, February 22, arrested the owner of ES Motorsports, Inc., Ehsan Shahnawaz, 32, of Crosstimbers Drive in Greenboro. He is charged with illegally billing customers for tax, tag and title fees for 87 vehicle sales.

Records show Shahnawaz opened the business located in Greensboro at 707 Norwalk St. in 2008, selling mainly used BMWs and high-end sports cars. In addition to sales from the vehicle lot, he also sold vehicles via the Internet.

The arrest followed a routine dealer audit by DMV inspectors and included an investigation into the dealership’s sales records over an 18-month period. Inspectors charged Shahnawaz with selling vehicles to out-of-state customers, charging them illegally for North Carolina taxes, titles and tags, when the vehicles were not being titled or licensed in the state. The dealer also charged other fees not allowed by North Carolina law.

In total, Shahnawaz was charged with 87 felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense, 12 counts of common law forgery, and six counts of common law uttering. Misdemeanor counts included two counts of having open titles, 25 counts of charging hidden fees, 4 counts of failure to inspect vehicles prior to sale, and 13 counts of improper issuance of a 30-day marker.

Following his arrest, Shahnawaz was taken to the Guilford County Detention Center and held on a $95,000 secured bond. License and Theft Bureau inspectors are continuing their investigation into the dealership’s activities."

04 330ci. few minor mods that make it look more badass (red logos, angel eyes) and I plan on doing more to it soon (audio mostly, but I'm considering a german front plate) but yeah I'm sure plenty of people on here have more badass bimmers. i think i've seen like 20 other students here with bimmers. mine's the only one that actually turns heads. (but then again, the next most impressive one is a e36 m3. the rest are shitty like 525s and 325s. there's a 330i and I think I saw an e90 328i)

A guy over on the S2000 forum just picked up an E30 with the S50 swap performed. Looks very well done and at 600lbs less than an E36 M3 I am willing to bet it's a hoot to drive!

He got it for $9400 or so, seems like a good deal.

^^ that is cool and i'm sure it makes his german penis look huge.

but that isn't what i would use in that car... i've driven an e30 with a stand-alone s 54 and that thing was a blast to drive... but.... it was more of a drift machine then a track type car... i could only image with an extra couple hundred hp that it's just nuts to drive a s85 powered car that would probably weigh around the 3000lb mark.

4th Gear: BMW, Hyundai In Joint Engine Development Talks
German carmaker BMW and South Korean automaker Hyundai are discussing a possible tie-up in engine development and other areas, according to a Reuters source. "The talks are at early stages," the source said on condition of anonymity because the talks were confidential. A second source told Reuters the two companies had discussed a comprehensive alliance, including jointly developing an engine and sharing development costs equally. He said he had no knowledge of whether the talks were still under way. Makes sense to share costs on development of small, fuel-efficient engines because the profit margins are so, you know, similarly-sized.

that's just sad to me.

I mean i guess ultimately FI cars usually do have more problems on track (boost leaks vacuum leaks overheating etc.) but it stinks that and OEM FI car touted as the ultimate driver machine over heats.
