They seem to think the suspensions will "galvanize" the team to overcome this latest adversity and show on the field what winners they truly are. Seriously.

UNC and ECU boards are melting down after their debuts. Fun reading!

So this is from IC talking about going to Cal:

Quote :
"Unfortunately for BKS we’ve taken little care of preserving the natural surrounding setting. They ruined the Kenan forest feel & continued removing tree around the Belltower. Not to mention the hideous mismatch interior facade with brick & stucco walls. Just bland & generic, IMO. I’m affraid that the campus’ newer buildings are becoming more & more brick computer designs to the point we must’ve hired the same firm that designs the commuter school in Raleigh."

I hate to be the one to point this out to them, but the architect who has done almost all recent work at UNC and NCSU is the same firm based in Chapel Hill. And two of the four architects including the principal architect for all stadiums and sporting projects went to that commuter school AKA UNC-Rawlee! So yes, the Wulfpeckers have designed all of your buildings on campus for the last twenty years. Your welcome.

years later and they still think they are an ivy league school and their athletes are rhodes scholars

Quote :
"Another noteworthy tidbit I didn't know is that admissions effectively turns down >60% of candidates presented by the athletic department on spec. I wonder, 1) what the stats look like for that subpopulation, and 2) how other schools compare in this regard statistically and procedurally"

Quote :
"I know someone being recruited by every ACC school in the conference. He wants to play in NC due to family and girlfriend. He is likely going to sign with Dook because he will likely have to prep a year or minimally take a full summer load if he signs with UNC. These are his words, not mine. Admissions standards have changed at UNC and our recruiting is being affected by it. He also said that Louisville's acceptance requirements were lower than anyone's in the ACC"

Keep in mind this is on a thread strictly about NC State posted on a UNC sports board ??????. Who has the syndrome? lol

I wish they'd get out of their own asses and realize that not everyone wishes they were a Tar Heel. There are actually people in North Carolina who could have but chose not to attend UNC. Novel concept!

fedoria will most like be fired, but it will be a new name with the same problem, getting players in the NC State,Michigan,Notre Dame etc can. When Holden did what he did by raising standards above NCAA level he killed football. If i was a big doner i would NOT give a dime to the buyout unless standards come back to where they where before firing butch,if not then get used to losing to State,Dook and ECU forever."

Maybe unc should drop their admission level to the point this mouth breather could get in. Although correctly spelling donor and fedora would probably put you in the 95th percentile of their student athletes

^^^possible i guess. but chizik has already been their DC and he wasn't exactly the savior their defense needed. granted, a lot of that can change with a different HC.

and kingsbury...maybe, i feel like he could get a better job elsewhere as OC.

geographically, kingsbury has only ever coached in Texas. no real reason he couldn't make the move to the ACC/UNC. but he just seems like a southwest/west guy to me. idk.

I think with the success of mahomes this year, Kingsbury will get multiple options as an OC in the NFL.

If he actually does go to UNC, I would legitimately be worried. He's a hell of a play caller.

guess the NCAA/ACC did as well since they suspended four of them and three of us. pretty sure I saw one of our guys ground and pounding one of theirs at one point, though.

Oh yeah, our guys definitely got in their licks as well and warned that suspension. Just thought it was funny how salty and skeptical the writer was being “according to Twitter I guess Carolina players might have started it I guess if you trust the tweets anyways”

Recruiting almost always picks up when a new coach comes in. Because the old coach was most likely fired for sucking, so they probably weren't recruiting great...and the new coach can sell their vision and sell playing time and sell themselves as the shiny new object. That's not unusual at all. But...their recruiting hasn't been *that* bad...this year's class is not looking good (currently 66 on 247). here's Fedora's classes prior to this current 2019 cycle

2018: 20
2017: 29
2016: 32
2015: 28
2014: 30
2013: 28
2012: 41 (put an asterisk here because he was hired in 2012, so 2013 is really his first full class)

That's not elite level talent, but recruiting in the top 30 is pretty solid for a program like UNC (or State) that isn't a perennial winner. It's hard to justify doing much better than that on the recruiting trail without results and history to back it up. I know a lotta people say that Fedora didn't have great relationships with the HS coaches in NC, so I'm sure Brown will be an improvement there. And depending on who the staff is, Brown is capable of recruiting better than Fedora. But to say Fedora wasn't bringing in solid classes is not true.

Also...they were recruiting great when Butch was there. And all they had to show for it was some 8-4 seasons.

Mack Brown recruited really well at UNC. He apparently had great relationships with the NC HS coaches. He also had the benefit of State being meh (and undergoing a coaching change between Sheridan and MOC), Duke being mostly ass (coaching changes as well), Wake being mostly ass (underwent a coaching change as well), App State being 1AA, Clemson was good at the beginning of his tenure but just meh by the mid-late part of his tenure, VT playing in the Big East and not as big a threat at the time, South Carolina was not good at the time. All those schools (and more) recruit NC heavily. Now, usually UNC and Wake or UNC and App aren't going head to head for recruits, so I'll grant that being less of a factor. But the fact is, all the schools that recruit the state of NC heavily, except for Tennessee, are more stable and flat out better than they were in the 90s during Brown's peaks at UNC, and in the case of Clemson - they might as well be fucking Alabama at this point. Recruiting for Brown won't be as easy as it was in the 90s.

On top of that, Mack Brown has been roasted repeatedly for missing on guys like Johnny Manziel, RG3, and Pat Mahomes...he didn't even offer Manziel, although he thought he'd make a good safety, he did offer RG3 as an ATH (likely a DB or WR), and apparently didn't offer Mahomes either but liked him as a DB.

https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/1/3/14161714/mack-brown-recruited-pat-mahomes-as-a-safety

Quote :
"From 2005 to 2012, more than 180 quarterbacks from the state of Texas signed with Football Bowl Subdivision schools. The 2013 class will push that number to at least 204.

You'll recognize a few of the names in that group.

Andy Dalton. Matthew Stafford. Christian Ponder. Then there are the rookies: Griffin, Luck, Ryan Tannehill and Nick Foles. They're all NFL starting quarterbacks. Only Stafford and Griffin were offered by UT."

And I usually roll my eyes at this stuff, but what the hell. Mack Brown obviously benefited from the academic fraud at UNC...that won't be in place this time around.

According to IC, UNC's loss to Michigan wasn't a loss to a better team. It was because Roy was trying to make a point. He doesn't care so much about wins as he does teaching his players valuable lessons. So this was a moral victory for them.
