So what do you think this will accomplish?

I feel like that only elevates her platform, makes her famous, garners outrage and sympathy from the right, and keeps all of the gun nuts politically motivated. Those twitter videos from yesterday are just tinder on a conservative fire. Add it to their list of "why trump won" footage. I don't think you want to make any of those things happen but correct me if I'm wrong.

If you can explain how ridiculing a little girl could somehow help achieve gun control then I'm interested in hearing it.

She’s 24, why do you keep calling her a little girl?

And the hope is that the same thing happens to her that happened to Richard Spencer, Alex Jones, and Milo.

because look how little she is. Physically, she's an easy target for this type of "bullying" (thats what they are calling it). It also makes it easy for gunnuts to make her the face of the movement. Its bad optics to have "liberal mob" attacking small woman.

Ana Kasparian and TYT had a take more similar to mine. Ignore her because this is what she wants. When you hate on her, she wins. Ana said imagine if she showed up and no one noticed her. She'd be done.

I wonder if their urban / rural ratio is similar to ours? Our map of "2nd amendment sanctuaries" is impressive.

and all of those people who died to guns would somehow be alive if gun manufacturers could be held liable.

bars/bartenders who overserve are often sued and it hasn't collapsed the economy or killed the bar industry

A bunch of kindergarteners will have to be gunned down in their classroom before anything approaching gun control happens here.

I don't know what it would take for us to pass sensible legislation. Mass shooting of a concert? Nope. Shooting little kids? Nope. Shooting legislators playing baseball? Nope.

It'll probably take shooting Wayne LaPierre.

One advantage of the quarantine is my first grader doesn't tell me how they practiced being quiet at school in case someone wants to kill them.

1. Universal Background checks
2. Universal gun registration
3. Increase requirements to conceal carry
4. Any ND results in suspension of ability to own a firearm for a certain period, any ND with bodily injury permanently voids it.
5. Elimination of certain items like drum magazines/bump stocks
6. Registration when purchasing large quantities of ammunition similar to how we do with fertilizer.
7. Increase tax on ammunition and firearms to better fund mental health resources

#1 I'm sure we all agree on. Everything else you said I'm adamantly against, as none of it in any way would prevent gun violence. If anything, it should increase gun violence by making it cheaper to buy guns on the street.

^^ Few questions

Since you are saying your views on these issues are at least partly and maybe adamantly motivated by an interest in preventing gun violence, and you think babyee's ideas wouldn't help, what actions would you support with that outcome in mind?

Would you be willing to respond point by point out why you feel why each of babyee's suggestions would "increase gun violence by making it cheaper to buy guns on the street"?

Lastly would you be willing to make any accommodation to the fact that a significant percentage of gun violence doesn't involve people buying guns on the street?

Just a "meta" opinion on the gun debate, not speaking to my own view on fun ownership.

over time if pro-gun people continue to try to argue for guns on the basis of statistics and not the right itself, they're gonna keep on losing over time as gun rights are slowly whittled down. often by republican presidents themselves presenting a new compromise by making a few small steps in favor of gun control.
the premise of discussion of guns as simply a policy with "less deaths/more deaths" will never work for republicans cause in the end no matter how many good guys you have, more guns will lead to more deaths, it is just common sense. sure there are small nuances but that is the fact

hell it was reagan who signed the bill that banned automatics, which I always find funny cause the same "diehard gun" republicans will worship him lmao
