But Randy's dumb song enabled Sandow's awesome parody. Worth it.

According to Brad Maddox, Dustin vs. Randy tomorrow for Cody's reinstatement.

WWE announced Jim Ross' retirement.

Quote :
"The WWE's web site announced Jim Ross is retiring from the company to pursue other personal business endeavors.

Ross met with Vince McMahon today where the decision was made to end his run with the company, which had had a few stops and starts, dating back to the 1993 WrestleMania show.

The decision, which was made by McMahon, was first told to us by a source in the company that it was possible, if not likely on the day of SummerSlam, stemming from the now-infamous 2K Sports symposium where Ric Flair spoke at length about a variety of subjects.

Ross took heat from management for not cutting Flair off and keeping the symposium to what it was scripted to be. Even though it was a 2K Sports symposium, and 2K Sports people had no problem with Flair's behavior, those in WWE were not happy with certain subjects and how they were brought up.

Since nothing had happened for three weeks, many expected that the heat and blown over.
"

His job was working with talent in NXT and doing commentary there occasionally.

This sounds incredibly stupid. The thing WWE were pissed off about most from Flair amongst other things was him talking about Reid Flair. And they're blaming Ross because Flair railroaded the press conference.

TNA fired their head of creative Bruce Pritchard (Brother Love) a few months ago, and Eric Bischoff has taken over (sigh). I think it'd be a great hire for them to put J.R. in the role. But that probably won't happen since that's a Bischoff/Hogan power play to make themselves the center of the promotion and run it if Viacom ever wants to buy the promotion for peanuts (a la Bellator).

Of all the bullshit "this validates us" crap that has come from TNA with their occasional signings of WWE washouts, hiring JR would really make them legit.

I'd assume, however, as in their negotiations with Heyman, that JR would want more creative control than Bischoff/Hogan are willing to cede.

Night of Champions tonight:

WWE Championship: Randy Orton (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
C.M. Punk vs. Curtis Axel & Paul Heyman - elimination match
World Heavyweight Championship: Alberto del Rio (c) vs. Rob Van Dam
United States Championship: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
Divas Championship: A.J. (c) vs. Brie Bella vs. Naomi vs. Natalya
Tag Team Championships: The Shield (c) vs. Pre-show Tag Match Winner

Pre-Show Tag Match for Title Match: Prime Time Players vs. The Real Americans vs. The Usos vs. Tons of Funk vs. 3MB

I personally wouldn't mind if 3MB won. Remember a few months ago their short feud with the Shield? They can be faces for a night.

Even if he wins tonight it's going to be a one-month title reign because Orton has to be champion longer-term. The next top heel in WWE for Bryan to face after Orton would be...del Rio? WWE has no credible heels at the moment other than Orton, the Shield as the muscle, and HHH and Paul Heyman as mouthpieces. And there's no way WWE is doing an angle of Orton being the corporate champion with Triple H as the mouthpiece and it only lasts a month. It's why although it was very well done, I kind of hated what came out of Summerslam, because this huge heel run of Orton and Hunter is not building to Daniel Bryan winning in the end, I think it's going to build to Cena beating Orton in the end. So 8 months of 20-minute HHH promos...all for Fruity Pebbles to save us.

Here's the 3 possible outcomes:

1.) Bryan wins. Rematch setup tomorrow night on Raw and Orton gets the title back at the next PPV, at which point they move on to other challengers. To use a recent example, Daniel Bryan gets the "Chris Sabin in TNA" title run.

2.) Bryan loses. The smart people think there's going to be a rematch regardless of the result tonight. But considering the company is ran by the people that are wanting to screw Daniel Bryan out of being in the title picture in storyline, that's going to be hard to book.

3.) Bryan loses. There's no rematch, they move on to someone like Big Show.

Bryan was laid out something like 8 shows in a row til finally getting to stand tall this past Monday night, so they've not given him much in the way of credibility heading into the match, which based on how WWE normally books everyone not named John Cena, means he'd win tonight.

Watching Seattle and the Niners, but results don't make it sound like it's a good show so far:

Del Rio retained by Van Dam winning via DQ. He put on the armbar, RVD made the ropes, and del Rio refused to let go. Post-match RVD did the coast-to-coast Van Terminator with Ricardo holding the chair and they brought out the doctors afterward for del Rio. (If that was legitimate, this poor guy...)

Punk beat Axel in his 2-on-1 match. Then he did some shots to Heyman until the new Paul Heyman guy came out...RYBACK! He put Punk through a table and then carried Heyman to the back. (Imagines Brock Lesnar and Ryback match.) Before the match, they had a promo where Heyman told Axel if he lost to Punk, he's on his own. So appears they've given up on him.

They added on a Curtis Axel title defense over Kingston (before the Punk match) and a Fandango-Miz match.

"Bryan won the title with the Busaiku knee (same as with Cena) and ref Scott Armstrong gave Orton a super fast count. The announcers never called it like it was a fast count. We'll see how or if they play it tomorrow. They had a a very good match, easily the best thing on the show. They went off the air without anything happening, so I have a feeling this may be played up tomorrow as part of HHH's master plan. It would be a good cliffhanger except they didn't play up the finish as anything wrong. The crowd didn't believe it was the finish right away because it was kind of sudden, but they were chanting "Yes" loud in unison when it was over."

Corporation 2.0 will do something to screw Daniel Bryan Danielson over on RAW, though it's hilarious to see some internet forums speculating Orton dropped the belt because he got his third strike lol

^ Haha (re 3rd strike).

I can see an NWO-era WCW night-after reversal of the result due to the ref's fast count.

no, he was behind Kane, Kane held it 24 hours, Bryan had it for 5 minutes, he was ahead of Andre the Giant and behind Rey Mysterio who had it 90 minutes; so he's passed Mysterio, if he is able to hold onto the belt until 11pm tonight, he'll pass Kane

start of show at 8 o'clock

-Daniel Bryan introduced

-he says how he feels can be summed up by "YES!", crowd chants a few times

-then Hunter's music hits

-immediately goes into the fast count discussion with the ref and Zapruder film analysis

-the ref Scott Armstrong acts like he silently had a deal with Daniel Bryan, Triple H picks up on it

-Daniel Bryan stripped of the title at 8:11 and it is vacant

HE HELD THE TITLE 11 MINUTES!

Daniel Bryan's 2 title runs are combined about 21 hours in length.

So he's passed Mysterio, but is still behind Kane.

my way of figuring with Punk is there'll eventually be an Orton-Punk feud for the title, but they can't go there yet, so they need something for him to stay busy in the meantime

Fact is, Punk is given a wide berth these days. They give him time and let him take care of business. By that token, nothing they can do to him will really take the shine off his previous accomplishments.

This kind of thing is always up for debate, but here's a fact:

Mr. Kennedy (Ken Anderson) returned to Raw from injury on May 25th, 2009. He got a long return segment early in Raw, and then was in a 10-man tag match on the show. During the match, he dropped Orton on his head. Mr. Kennedy was released by WWE later that week.

Edited because I remembered that the 10-man tag was a Team Lakers/Team Nuggets match, booked because Stan Kroenke (the Nuggets owner) had double-booked the building in Denver that Monday, and the NBA playoffs took precedence. There's a hilarious interview from Sportscenter on the topic where Jonathan Coachman, ESPN anchor and former WWE employee, is completely ignored as a former employee by Vince McMahon.
