^^ doesn't sting still don the black and white face paint.

when I was young I thought Sting's transformation and "hiding" in the rafters was the greatest thing ever. better than hogans bad guy nwo transformation.

Yes and no. Currently, he's not wearing any paint at all, leading the Main Event Mafia in a suit.

I have to assume the reason that they used surfer Sting footage was to allow them to highlight Sting without promoting what is ostensibly his current TNA character.

He announces, he takes bumps, and he occasionally wrestles. If you're an employee of WWE, you can't smoke weed or take 'roids. Period.

One thing I enjoyed from a Raw review:

Quote :
"One thing I do like, though, is how you can look at which John Cena shirts kids in the crowd are wearing to see how long it’s been since WWE’s been in their town. Kids were wearing that orange “Never Give Up” one from 2011, so it’s been a WHILE."

so the McMahons fire Vickie as GM and Vince appoints Brad Maddox as her replacement

...okay

anyone else sick of heel GMs or incompetent GMs, or GMs being storyline characters to begin with?

The gm character is ok, or at least when that character was THE authority. When they are portrayed as a puppet, they're worthless and a waste of time.

Using Maddox is a stall tactic to not really kick off the McMahon power struggle angle for Mania.

Yes, that's what the WWE needs, more McMahons fighting for power angles.

Money in the Bank tonight. Main matches are:

Cena vs. Henry for the WWE title
del Rio vs. Ziggler for the World title
6 faces in a Money in the Bank match for the WWE title
7 heels in a Money in the Bank match for the World title

starting with the heels' Money in the Bank match, Philly crowd chanting "We the People"

The Shield won the preshow tag title match against the Usos. I didn't watch it but some others said it was pretty good.

Good ladder match. Some good spots with Cesaro and Swagger going 2-on-1 vs. Ambrose holding a ladder with Ambrose in the middle and Ambrose skinned the cat to get on top of the ladder. Then they threw him and the ladder overboard. Cesaro and Swagger then realized they didn't have a ladder and Cesaro jumped on Swagger's shoulders to try to get to the briefcase. Ending of the match was they were setting it up to make you think Cody Rhodes would win in a kind of babyface fashion. Then Rollins & Reigns ran out to stop him and destroy a couple others so Ambrose can get up the ladder. Then the Usos ran out to make the save and the Shield brawled with them and Cesaro and Swagger. Rhodes was in the middle with everyone knocked out about to win the briefcase and Sandow attacked him from behind, and got the briefcase. Looks like Cody's going face.

Axel pins Miz.
A.J. taps out Kaitlyn.
Ryback rolls up Jericho.

del Rio retains by DQ when A.J. comes out mid-match and jumps in the ring and nails del Rio with the Divas belt; post-match of Ziggler saying "why'd you do that" and A.J. crying being apologetic

Cena-Henry next. The faces' Money in the Bank match is the main event.

Crowd was into Henry. Cena wins by making Henry tap out to the STF. (Henry kicked out of an AA, and Cena kicked out of the World's Strongest Slam.)

The faces' Money in the Bank. For entrances, the #1 face was Punk. Crowd was also into Bryan and the return of RVD. Sheamus mildly booed and indifference to Christian.

Spotfest that was not as good as the first Money in the Bank match. RVD seeking to injure people. Sheamus to me looked to have torn up his wrist as he clutched it immediately after falling out of the ring.

If you want the best for Daniel Bryan, you'll be disappointed. He was running wild and about to setup a ladder in the middle of the ring and Curtis Axel came out and attacked him and took him out, so looks like his next feud is one for the IC title. Axel is then given a Go 2 Sleep by Punk. Heyman comes out and berates Axel as he's outside for distracting Punk. Heyman then eggs Punk on to go in and get the briefcase. Punk is halfway up the ladder and Heyman turns on him, hitting in the back and the face with another ladder a few times. RVD tries to go up and then is given an RKO by Orton. Orton walks up and wins the briefcase. So looks like at some point we're going back to Cena-Orton title matches, which we haven't had in awhile.

The first Money in the Bank match was the best on the show. Del Rio-Ziggler was going to be good and the BS finish kinda ruined it. Cena-Henry is what it was going to be. The main event Money in the Bank couldn't hold a candle to the earlier one and the Axel/Bryan booking for instance just seemed written by Russo for how out of left field it was.

Once again, Punk & Heyman stole whatever show there was to the second MITB match. I especially liked Punk's bow.

Punk was bleeding like crazy from Heyman's last ladder shot. It was hard to tell on first viewing because the blood is running along his hairline, but he's bleeding a lot as soon as he hits the mat.

Del Rio is usually good at that stuff though.

In Ziggler's case, as much of a spot monkey as he is taking dumb bumps, I think he'll have a lot of injuries as he gets older.

^^ The crazy thing is there are British bookies that take bets on WWE. A guy on another board took the reddit guy's match outcomes, bet on all of them, and bear in mind 2 of them were multi-person matches, got them all right, and he made all of 13 pounds off a 4 pound bet from getting 8 out of 8 correct (if you got 8 out of 8 correct in horse racing, you'd be a millionaire).

From the Wrestling Observer, arrest warrant issued for Ric Flair:

Quote :
"Just hours after Jacqueline Beems, the fourth wife of Ric Flair, turned herself in following a warrant for her arrest on charges of harassment filed by Wendy Barlow Kidder, Flair's girlfriend, a Mecklenberg County judge ordered the arrest of Flair in contempt for not paying $32,352.51 in spousal support over the last eight months.

The order for Flair's arrest was on 7/3, so it was not related in timing to Beems turning herself in today. It becoming public on the same day was likely not coincidental.

Flair said he would pay Beems the money he owed her tomorrow, which would drop the charges against Flair who had at least two court orders against him to pay the money. Flair claimed he didn't pay her because he hadn't worked in three months due to being hospitalized with a blood clot and his son Reid dying.

Flair told the Charlotte Observer that Beems, who had very nasty split from Flair, had left five threatening phone calls and 50 texts to Kidder."

WWE are also close to making the selection for what city will host WrestleMania in 2015, it's going to be one of Orlando, Philadelphia, or San Jose.

random news:

-Chris Jericho's match at the Smackdown tapings last night was his goodbye match for WWE for the time being

Quote :
"WWE.com reported that Randy Orton suffered a cervical strain and cervical neuorpraxia in his match against Alberto Del Rio taped for Smackdown earlier tonight in Providence."

-On Impact Thursday night, they're having a "Destination X" show which has been a PPV in the past but is now a TV show since they cut down to 4 PPVs. If you're a fan of high-flying wrestling tune in to this show. Chris Sabin is taking on Bully Ray for the TNA title. They're also bringing in some X Division wrestlers from the past for one-off matches.

Kept the TV on last night and watched Total Divas' first episode, it's not near as bad as I expected. The show does have a lot of bullshit as you'd expect. Natalya crying on being told THE WEEK OF WRESTLEMANIA she didn't have a match on the show. Nikki Bella asking her boyfriend John Cena about marriage. The other Bella, Brie, appears the more down to earth of the two, and she dates Daniel Bryan. Conveniently these two after this show starts are the next PPV main event.

You can tell though that in real life Cameron (the lighter-skinned of the 2 Funkadactyls) is psycho.

The show would be really good if they threw out the scripted "reality" moments and just did a doc-style show. The girls' match getting cut from Mania on the fly is much better drama than "my boyfriend is mad at Brodus."

as well as attempting to bribe the cop to not turn her in

plus when asked by Steve Austin what was the best WWE match she'd ever seen on the first episode of Tough Enough a couple years ago, she answered "Melina vs. Alicia Fox", Austin's reaction:

(True Story: Arianny, now Cameron, was the first person cut from that Tough Enough show and she was the first one to make the WWE roster.)

This is the same channel as the Kardashians' show, so it goes with the territory.

Per Meltzer, her boyfriend causing a scene backstage actually happened. I'm thinking "I would love to see this guy attempt to take down Brodus."

Yeah, I know, but it doesn't have to. The drama is all there, they just have to get it on camera. On top of catering to that audience, it's entirely possible that they don't have the budget to cover this thing in a way that always makes it editorially interesting.

When I look at a picture of the guy that did it though, there's no way in hell WWE would ever hire him. So that tells me shoot. He doesn't sound like the smartest guy either.

Quote :
"CAPE TOWN - 20-year-old Tshepo Sekhabi, who calls himself “Jozi, the wrestling machine,” quit his job to attend a WWE event at Cape Town’s Grand West Casino, in the hope of making it big and becoming a wrestling star.

After the event however, the fan, who'd travelled from Johannesburg, was left only with a black eye, a banning notice from the venue, and a potential criminal charge suit.

This is all down to his stunt attempt in the ring.

Sekhabi scrambled into the ring and struck wrestler Randy Orton in the groin in an unprovoked attack.

Orton was celebrating his victory over Big E Langston when Sekhabi managed to elude security guards, and attack Orton.

After recovering from the assault, Orton managed to cross the ring and kick Sekhabi in the head before he was taken away by security.

A WWE spokesperson has told eNCA.com that Orton is now “considering pressing charges” against Sekhabi.

Asked whether Orton plans to apologise for kicking Sekhabi, the spokesperson said “Randy Orton was the victim in this incident and suffered an injured groin.”

The WWE could not provide details on the extent of Orton’s injuries.

Sekhabi said he planned the attack before he arrived, adding “I just don’t like Randy Orton, this was an opportunity for me so I got up there and made a name for myself.”

He confirmed he'd quit his job as an admin clerk in Johannesburg where he trains in kickboxing with his uncle in Elsburg near Germiston.

An assistant investigation manager from the casino said Sekhabi would not be formally arrested, but was booked out of his room in the casino and told to leave the premises.

Sekhabi said he did not plan to press charges against Orton or the WWE."

Here's the video of JOZI "The Wresteling Machine" on Youtube calling out Randy Orton for a fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdPWQOzn5rk&feature=player_embedded

Sounds like a nobody trying to make a name for himself. He'll probably get a couple bookings in South African pro wrestling out of it: "come see the guy that bravely hit Randy Orton in the balls from behind".
