Nah, i like cars to be as safe as possible.

How about we just politely ask police to stop murdering law abiding citizens?

I'm talking about writing it down. If you murder someone while you're a cop, you get charged with murder, not get suspended with pay for a couple months. Because that's obviously not the policy now.

mandatory 3rd party (SBI, Justice Department or something) review of every police shooting, no internal reviews

if charges are brought do so in another jurisdiction and not with the DAs and judges that work with that department

^^Thats how it is done in NC. There will always be an internal review which determines if policy was violated. You could have a shooting 100% cleared by the SBi, but still be terminated for violating policy.

yeah, sbi is better than local

in nc though wouldn't charges be in the local jurisdiction though? so they would still be a DA they are friendly with convening the grand jury and pressing?

Yes. The law would have to be changed, because you can't charge someone with a crime in a count/city where it didn't occur. *with the exception of identity theft.

I heard this morning, and I haven't verified yet, that Castille was a convicted felon. I say this not trying to take away anything from the shooting, because you shouldn't die just because you are a convicted felon. If it is true though, it kinda throws a wrench in the story, because, and correct me if I'm wrong, I though convicted felons were not allowed to have concealed carry permits.

Maybe he meant this is some guy named Castile that's a convicted felon, and because 1 castile is a felon, they all must be?

Bunch of piddly shit. Mainly traffic stops, but no felony. No reason as far as I can tell why he wouldn't be able to get a concealed carry permit and/or own a weapon.

Thank you Nighthawk for verifying, rather than just call my comment stupid.

Oh and my father told me about the felony thing - he is an avid Fox news follower, so perhaps it came from there.

so has it been confirmed that the shooter was a veteran? that'll definitely confuse some right-wingers.... although i guess it will just be dismissed as PTSD, and therefore the government is partially to blame for not addressing it (which may have some truth to it)

^I had heard the same information as well as adding that he was a convicted child molestor, which was really confusing as to how he had a concealed carry permit and was working at a school cafeteria.

^^well, yeah, but he was a muslim

(of course, this guy was black, which is just about as bad as being muslim to some of the anti-black-lives-matter right-wingers)

Quote :
"A KARE 11 viewer, who gave us audio clips of police radio traffic, claims they captured the moments just before Philando Castile and his girlfriend were stopped by St. Anthony police – which ended in police shooting that killed Castile.
KARE 11 has attempted to confirm the authenticity of the recording with police officials, but so far they have not responded.
We have verified that the license plate mentioned by police in the recording matches the plate of the car Castile was driving. The location the officer gives also corresponds to the locations of the traffic stop.

“I’m going to stop a car,” the officer says on the recording. “I’m going to check IDs. I have reason to pull it over.”

“The two occupants just look like people that were involved in a robbery,” the officer says. “The driver looks more like one of our suspects, just ‘cause of the wide set nose,” the officer continues.

A minute and a half later, the recording captures the first report that there was a shooting.

Officer: “Shots fired Larpenteur and Fry.”
Dispatch: “Copy you just heard it? … You just heard the shots fired?”
Officer: (screaming) “Code 3! Shots fired.”
Dispatch: “Copy shots fired Larpenteur and Fry. Do you need medics?”
Officer: “Code 3!”
Dispatch: “Copy. Medics -- code 3 to Larpenteur and Fry.”
Officer: “One adult female taken into custody. Driver at gunpoint.”
It’s unclear which robbery the officer was referring to when he said Mr. Castile looked like a suspect. But the BCA had sent out a press release earlier this week saying St. Anthony police were investigating a gas station robbery that occurred in nearby Lauderdale on July 2."

So do we think that the police, who had possession of Diamond Reynolds cell phone, logged into her Facebook account and deleted the video?

That's kind of fucked up if true

first report was that it was a facebook glitch, then someone reported this morning that the police deleted it on her phone, but facebook said again after that that it was a technical issue

i'm not sure what facebook's incentive would be to be misleading about why it was down. being vague about it, sure, but if it was deleted by someone i don't get why they wouldn't say it was deleted on the user end

facebook is lying

but i don't think the cops deleted it (though i could totally see them doing that, crooked ass cops)

facebook's bot deleted it automatically when enough people hit the report link on it as it was going viral

when they realized its importance they restored it

technical glitch? not really. but they don't want to face the heat of "facebook is designed to work this way" in this particular instance

^^ Also if the police had deleted, it I don't think it would have been reposted, especially an hour later (if that number is correct)

So the cop who shot Philando Castile is named Jeronimo Yanez. I wonder if this will impact how this is discussed.

It certainly shouldn't. The race of the cop seems to have very little impact on their propensity to panic shoot, use excessive force, or their perception of black people.

It's a systemic issue with police departments and police culture.
