When I go back to Jacksonville to visit my parents these days, we pretty much agree to listen to just Bob Dylan or something like that when we're in the car. He thinks all the contemporary music I listen to is weird. 8/5/2010 4:33:34 PM

why do people like panda bear? the only thing i can think of is maybe the 20-years-ago irony cycle isn't enough for some people, so they're pulling a DOUBLE IRONI-RETRO and listening to something that could have been retro in the late 80s, and sounds like brian wilson, pilled out of his gourd (but i repeat myself), recording underwater. to me, it just sounds godawful to me.
also, i just bought tix to see stars at cat's cradle and almost immediately regretted it because i can totally imagine them being horrible live, did i make a grievous error?

can you explain harmonic intervals to me?
most importantly
what keys on a keyboard do I hit if I want to play a minor seventh? a major seventh? a major second? a minor second? a diminished fifth? 10/1/2010 3:57:44 AM
|
vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
the easiest way to learn them is to learn the number of half-steps in each interval
there's a good chart here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interval_(music)#Main_intervals
the number on the left is how many keys apart you'd press for any given interval 10/1/2010 1:12:51 PM

Name a better female rock vocalist than Kim Deal.
Because I'm curious. 11/25/2010 1:50:11 AM
|
vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
Are we talking a better VOCALIST, or a better all-around female badass amazing dynamo who happens to sing occasionally?
Because I can think of plenty of the former, but the only person who comes close to challenging Kim Deal on the latter is PJ Harvey. 11/25/2010 1:54:37 AM
|
tromboner950 All American 9667 Posts user info edit post |
Well either works.
I wan't so much talking better VOCALIST strictly in terms of technical ability to sing, but in terms of being awesome at rock vocals (see: Gigantic, Into the White). So I suppose somewhere between the two things you mentioned. 11/25/2010 1:58:19 AM
