We're not going to get a big name, we're getting a mid-major coach. Sucks, but that is life at NC State. 4/2/2006 11:55:20 AM |

^^ Did you read what Katz posted?
I would be thrilled if Barnes would come at this point but I'd also be SHOCKED if he left Texas. He is on my 'unrealistic list' right AFTER Jay Wright, who I think is a much better ingame coach then Barnes.
Thing is, does it really matter? If we don't get a BIG NAME coach everyone is just going to blame Fowler and not the fact that none were available like most of us have been saying on here..

we should outsource this task to fox. It would give her practice running an athletics program, since UCSD has none 4/2/2006 12:01:49 PM |

Billy Gillespie's name has been thrown around a lot. Not as a #1, but as a probable candidate should the higher-ups not work out
I love this quote
Quote : | "A lot of people have talent, unbelievable skill – but no determination. They find excuses for wallowing in mediocrity and never realize their full potential. This thing we call life is not easy. It takes desire to succeed at whatever a person wants to do or become. Success is not always measured in dollars and cents, but in setting and achieving one’s goals....But beyond that, it comes down to heart – how badly a person wants to do something and how much effort he or she is willing to give to reach their goals with no excuses." |

Of course he isn't closer to the situation. However, he does know the inner workings of the coaching circle and college bball a hell of a lot better then you or me.
I can't figure out which is worse. The people blaming the fans/media for Herb leaving or the people calling everyone they disagree with 'herb lovers.'
This is fucking retarded and not worth my time to respond about this situation anymore I guess...4/2/2006 12:08:17 PM |

^^please. katz was so inside, he knew about the herb hiring, right? No one in any media knew anything about herb leaving until it happened. It's obvious that Katz doesn't know what's going on with NCSU and our efforts. He might be able to pull on a few string now that he knows the news, but he's just repeating common opinion.

Katz' article is crap. Anyone putting stock in it knows nothing.

The only decent point he makes is we would call Gregg Marshall, which we will. 4/2/2006 12:17:53 PM |

I did. But Katz doesn't talk to Fowler.
All I know is that Barnes is our #1 target. However, that doesn't mean we get him. I personally don't think we get him...but he is our first choice.
I feel like if we don't get a big name (meaning, we get higher than a midmajor coach)...then all of this will be step down. I really hope we can reel in Barnes or someone like him...but I definitely wouldn't put money on it.
