Oh geez, got that wrong big time. How the fuck did they only manage to find ONE text exchange that took place between 1/5-1/6? Wait, I already know the answer to this one and just one word will suffice: complicitous. Negligence and incompetence, like many are suggesting, doesn't even come close. They fucking knew what was happening all along. How is this not drawing more ire and outrage?

In hindsight, I guess it was easy to predict how bad things would get-- I'm just not seeing any way to predict how things can actually get better.

Washington Post now reporting that the DHS IG put together a report in October 2021 detailing the secret services stonewalling and refusal to turn over data and that by February 2022 the texts had been erased. So it seems like the reason we didn’t have this info is there are layers on layers of coverup extending all throughout the executive branch.

The DHS IG is refusing to step aside in the investigation of the secret service texts, so it looks like the deep state is going to run interference to the very end.

Never forget the civil libertarians, the (actual) small government conservatives, and a multitude of progressives/leftists that warned us Bush’s creation of a new agency (and expansion of federal law enforcement therein) would lead to trouble for this country. Now we have a 200k person agency full of meathead MAGA acolytes trying to destroy US democracy. And seriously, it extends beyond Jan 6th and the secret service.
