yesterday my roomate and I went on a fabulous adventure in downtown Charleston!! first we went to a fine lingerie store called Bits of Lace. The sales ladies were very good and proclaimed that my real bra size is a 34 B I got 2 AWESOME bras (total cost: $140 ) On the way out the door I wore a new bra and put my old, streched out, ill fitting bra in the trash!! such a good feeling

I got this one in nude

http://www.bitsoflace.com/chantelle-new-essentia-contour-bra.html

Then, hard work done, we frolicked on down to a vintage store. I was unimpressed, but did find a fun 70s cowboy shirt. The selection was much too large, too tightly packed on the rack (almost impossible to flip through the clothes), totally unorganized, and didn't consist of good quality items.

Finally we went to the local thrift store to buy a housewarming gift for a friend. We found some nice blue and white coffee mugs for 39 cents each. But the star was this awesome corset top for $3.99!!! Any suggestions on what to wear it with? It's very pirate-ey with the puffy sleeves so I think it would be fun to do like a female Cap'n Morgan type thing. (I don't have boots though )

yippie-cai-yay, motherfucker!!!

RRRRrrrr, maties

Shopping addictions ftl.... but, I think you should buy 2 things.....then in about2-3 weeks buy the others. Spread it out and it won't feel as bad and you're giving yourself time to decide if you really need/want the others. You may find something else you like better between now and then. My opinion.

^ that is a good idea.

^^ a lot of the time i talk about shopping online i never pull the trigger. this stuff has been in my cart for a few hours now and i'm still like...do it don't do it do it don't do it. i DID just buy 2 dresses this week so...blah. sometimes when i "shop" online and then post pictures here it is almost like real shopping and gives me some satisfaction haha. but i do need some real clothes not fantasy clothes!

so...here we go...keep in mind these things (maybe with the exception of the grey shirt) can be for both my normal life and i can wear them to work.

ok this i'm def getting in the royal. same brand as the dresses i bought earlier this week but different style so i don't have 8 of the exact same dress haha ($48):
http://tinyurl.com/43upqs6

these 3 things i really really really REALLY want but...they are the ones i will delete if i delete items:
http://tinyurl.com/3j7x39h...this is on sale for $16 (in grey...the other color is already gone). i think it is a simple but cute top to wear with jeans and sandals.

http://tinyurl.com/3vd5k3f...you need to zoom in on the top of this dress to see the pretty part. i love this because it looks comfortable, it is cute BUT i am unsure about the color. i mean ideally i will eventually have a tan, but i'm still fair skinned and will never be as tan as that girl. but i DO have dark hair and eyes going for me. it is $42.

http://tinyurl.com/3uua7es...this top i like because in terms of tops to go with jeans, i'm kind of lacking. i really only have tshirts (like the kind you get at old navy for $5). which is fine but then if i want to wear jeans going out on the weekend...i don't really have a lot of tops. HOWEVER my reservation with this top is color. it says that it is ivory, but it looks pretty white white in the picture (i know the pictures can be deceiving). i def want it to be ivory. the reviewers say they wear it with a cream cami, so i'm guessing it is more ivory. i would wear it with dark skinny jeans and cute sandals (probably my gold sandals). $38

so it is 4 things + shipping for $150 which isn't TOO bad. but i don't really want to spend that much. i just like all of the things so much it is hard to pick what to cut out. i'm thinking that mauve dress is something to hold off on...it would probably look turrible on me!

what do you guys think about the rest? i know my style is often super different than a lot of peoples in this thread but oh well...tell me what you think anyway

thanks guys, glad you like the shirts!

kadwhackle, my old bra was a 38B and I'm now wearing a 34B. I have measured my underbust to be a 38, then you're supposedly supposed to add 4 to that for your band size??? I'm so confused considering what I've read online seems to be completely wrong. The bra lady took one look and said, "your bra is way too big. there's no way you're a 38!" (she didn't measure, she just eyeballed me in the dressing room ) So she put me in the 34B and OMG what a difference ... no falling down straps, no gaping in the cup, it was amazing!!

My roommate was wearing a 34C, and she found her real size to be a 32D. Victoria's Secret had previously convinced her of the other size, probably because they didn't have 32D.

Victoria Secret stopped carrying 32D for a while but I think they brought it back recently. I am a 32D and was quite annoyed when this happened.

but i liked the color...it looked really really pretty.

I like the top more though but it could've been slightly more red like you wanted

I just want to reiterate how much I also love Chantelle bras, Nerdchick

It's a shame they're so expensive, but you get what you pay for

I just can't go back to wearing brands like Bali that just don't support me as well

it's important when you've got breasts as large as mine

LOL, I seriously hope there aren't other women out there doing this! Your measurement around in inches is what your bra size should be (or if you're in between, a size up or down)!

Those two sizes have the same cup volume: it's actually not a huge "mistake" to make. Your room mate probably could wear either, so long as the band was snug (mostly this depends some on the brand and type of bra).

Thanks ladies.. I am feeling really self conscious about it now, I guess. I've had a lot of compliments and a few people even told me it reminds them of Mary Jane from Spiderman (and Florence Wench), which to me is a plus.. but then my mom and fiance' and a few others are acting like they'll basically just get used to it. My grandma told me it was very "me" and that she loved how shiny it is.

I'm just annoyed because people don't live with my in Bama, so they couldn't see that it was starting to turn more orange than anything and my roots were showing pretty badly. :/ Regardless, I'll probably tweak the color a bit when I get my roots touched up.. I just wish everyone else loved it as much as I do.

^^ yeah Sam I wouldn't listen to those haters. Your hair looks GREAT!! Believe it or not, people you otherwise trust may not know what they're talking about when it comes to fashion.

I used to dye my hair red all the time and IMO it looked really good/natural. There was a guy at work who would give me a hard time about it! I'm in the Navy so you're supposed to have "professional" hair color. Of course he can give me military advice that my hair was too red or whatever. But he admitted it was in the range of natural colors, he just said it didn't look good with my complexion. Weird! And he did that more than once. Luckily I don't work with him any more.

Thanks again ladies it's nice to know some people recognize vibrant red is actually a natural color and not crazy!

I posted this on the last page but no one said anything.

I'm looking for a pair of sandals I can wear to the office and be comfortable and not be like rainbow flip-flops. I saw these:
http://www.dsw.com/shoe/minnetonka+women's+becky+sandal?prodId=218044
but I wasn't quite sure about them. They are definitely comfortable though.

Any ideas ladies?

for those of you non-premies, i'll catch you up real fast. for the past two days i've been trying to go brunette. the first time I used the wrong thing and it did absolutely nothing (i didn't read the directions oops). today I did it right, except my hair is NOT brown. it is black. and I am super not pleased.

anyway.... here are my results. it was not a permanent color so hopefully it will lighten with a few washes. however if anyone knows of some way i can lighten my color without frying my hair to death please share my hair does not like going light and i am definitely not putting any sort of bleaching agent in it.

how many washes does it take until yours fades?

i have dark brown hair that sometimes gets called black

and i am pale

both my skin and hair are natural right now! so you can be pale with dark hair! or maybe i'm just walking around being fugly and not knowing it (prob the latter).

ANYWAY i think it looks good; however...if it isn't permanent then shouldn't it start fading in like a week or 2? doesn't dandruff shampoo also fade color faster? i don't know. these are all things i've heard but yet to try (haven't dyed my hair in like...5 or 6 years)

http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Dye-from-Hair

Quote :
"If you dyed your hair a darker color with a demi-permanent (claims to wash out in 28 shampoos) dye, make a thick paste of crushed Vitamin C tablets and water. Apply the paste to your damp hair and rest an hour before washing out. This will remove most of the color if applied within a few days of the dying. You will not need to re-color your hair, the paste is non-damaging."

Quote :
"1 Purchase some Original Formula Prell or another anti-dandruff shampoo such as Head & Shoulders.

2 Buy some baking soda. Baking powder does not work.

3 Mix them together and wash your hair several times, if necessary. If you can't buy baking soda, you can just try plain dandruff shampoo."

Quote :
"Use a washing powder or clothing detergent. I dyed my hair black and after about 5 washes (leaving it on for about ten minuets) with detergent (bleaching AGENT only, not actual hydrogen peroxide etc, for example surf) it is sort of a dirty blonde, which is fairly close to my natural colour. Beware; your roots will lighten quicker than your ends, so maybe have a good haircut too!"

PLEASE DO NOT MIX BAKING SODA IN WITH YOUR SHAMPOO!!!!

Back in 2004 I dyed my hair black. And I mean real black, not what you have above. I did black, almost purple-black, but what I really wanted was dark dark brown. Long story short, it was awful. Everyone said to mix baking soda in with my shampoo, just mix it with dandruff shampoo or a cleansing shampoo like neutrogena, and it FRIED out my hair. It made it so dry and brittle nothing would help. Atleast when it was just black it was soft. Now I had dry and brittle hair and it was still black.

Just let it wash out as the days go by, and in a few days it will be fine. But don't do the baking soda thing.
