what do you know about cocaine?

serious question

I have a sneaking suspicion that a majority of your knowledge comes from D.A.R.E.

and giving chase for an outstanding drug warrant does nothing but escalate a situation that doesn't need escalating and could easily be resolved another way.

What kind of change are you talking about though, in the context of this particular incident? Want to make drugs legal, so he wouldn't have had previous charges? Want to make not showing up for court a non-issue, so he wouldn't have had a warrant out for his arrest? Want to make it legal to run from a cop, so he wouldn't have been chased?"

You need to go back and read the dialog between jtdenny and I. Without that context, you are completely missing the point of me saying :

"You see, protesting and stopping traffic is an effective means to get the attention of those politicians in govt."

Without that context, you are just responding to some made up argument.
Go back. Go back and read the thread. That's how message boards work.

From wikipedia

Quote :
"Anxiety, paranoia and restlessness can also occur, especially during the comedown"

I have never done cocaine, so I can't personally speak to its affects, but tell me, what makes you the expert here? Speaking to tgl

Look EMCE, I get it. If it had been a white guy with a outstanding drug-related warrant, would the cop have even given chase? But the kind of fixes that change behavior like that isn't something easily legislated by politicians.

Hell, I'm even for legalizing weed, just to keep so many juveniles and other folks out the criminal justice system. But you can't say that the cop was in the wrong by going after someone with a warrant. We can debate all day if it was because he was black, or if things would be different if he hadn't been black.

But the evidence still shows that he went for the cop's gun, and ultimately that is why he was shot.

you routinely make definitive statements that come from absolute ignorance

I've been around cocaine enough in my life to know that it isn't going to cause someone to engage in a physical confrontation with a cop. they're more likely to engage in an endless conversation with a cop than anything else.

the only reason for the police to release information on drugs in the system of a dead person is for a certain group of people to latch onto it and say, "well, they must've been bad if they had drugs in their system"

I typically reserve "someone being bad" for those that try to grab cops' guns. And even that isn't concrete. What if, in the tustle, he accidentally grazed the gun with his arm or something, and the cop took that for trying to grab it.

You people have to realize rjrumfel thinks PayPal isn't coming to NC because they didn't want to in the first place, and Bruce didn't sell enough tickets and wanted to cancel his NC show anyway.

Yeah but the problem with climate change is the belief (which has no basis in anything at all) that we are supposed to stay on this planet. Looking at climate data over a large range of time suggests that the climate changes of the last century pale in comparison to climate change following the younger dryas period. We as a species should first formulate a plan to fend off extinction rather than randomly grasping at potential problems and deciding that that is where our energy should be focused. 94% of all of the fossil record is extinct so maybe biology is a mechanism for creating extinct species.

Check out this climate change graph. :^)

So, what's the point of keeping the ozone layer if we only spend a few millions on astroid impact avoidance but trillions on nuclear arms? Seems a little backwards to me.

Maybe we should just wait for another Tunguska and then be reactionary about that and forget about global warming.

synapse is the perfect example of someone who only sees in white or black. With the exception of the second quoted phrase, none of that speech particularly indicates that I'm against the climate change arguments.

I do think there are industries out there that are full of crap and are taking advantage of this whole "green" initiative. I do think we're on a natural warming cycle, but that doesn't mean we can't be contributing to it. And that last quote, how is that against climate change. I was just pointing out that there are a lot of arguments against it, some are compelling.

Come onnnnn buddy, you were claiming global warming wasn't happening. And the one above that you're questioning if global warming is "real" or not. The one above that you question "the idea of global warming" as if it's not an actuality. The one above that you say the global warming crowd is full of crap.

So yes, it's clear you're a global warming denier, which is clearly what wdprice was referencing with his 97% line.

But to be fair, you are incapable of seeing beyond the black and white. Everything is an idea. Science and religion rely equally on faith in the same regard. There are so many basic assumptions in science such as initial conditions (which really could never exist), assumptions that time is linear, assumptions about our measuring devices, and one giant assumption that language or numbers should correspond to the experience of reality. There really is no proof of a correspondence. Show me "one" of anything and using the magic of science I can return to you a seemingly uncountable number of other things.

Global warming, like the big bang or god creating the universe instantly out of nothing are all ideas. If you are willing to believe that all logic, matter, ethics and everything you have ever experienced and have not experienced were generated instantly from nothing at all, then what wouldn't you believe?

You know, it is so much easier to talk politics in person. I really enjoy talking about politics with my coworkers, most of which are Democrats, and we actually have some really good discussions about the bigger issues.

We had one on healthcare today.

Being anonymous sometimes makes these online arguments kinda crappy.

^^The thing is, in person, most people are a lot less likely to call someone an idiot, retarded, etc, for the views they hold. It's also must easier to explain your position when you don't have to type it out. Lots of times I just give up because I'm too lazy to type that much.

We should all pick a bar one day and show up and just shoot the shit. I bet we'd all find we have a lot more in common than we think.

Liberalism doesn't really allow for "common ground" and compromise, or actual discussion on any issue. The regressive left wants complete ideological domination, not thought and discussion. As rjrumfel just mentioned, they only see "in white or black".

If you disagree on any aspects of their positions/narratives at all, you are just labeled. Now you are a global warming "denier" even though you said you weren't, because you didn't toe the line.

I am just glad he kept the suspect safe from the harmful effects of marijuana by tasing him in to cardiac arrest and breaking his teeth and jaw.

Imagine what could have happened if he had been allowed to continue on his way with a small amount of marijuana on his person.

during that shooting at dallas love airport, people stayed and watched. in this day and age, if shooting broke out at an airport, i'm leaving.

i can't believe all of these people just stood around and hung out at the airport. they couldn't have known if there was a bomb or anything.

turns out he had a rock so i guess he was "armed"

Maybe the police work an impossible job and have to make quick reactions that are often wrong?

Maybe its a result (intentional or not...) of cutting corners elsewhere in society?
