Looking for a new crib, help me find this:

~$900/month
Prefer a house, but a townhouse might work. I don't want people above or below me.
Want a garage, but will settle for a carport or large enough building to store/work on my motorbike
Hardwood floors are a requirement. I don't want to walk on some dude's nasty carpet.
A large enough front or back porch to grill and chill
Two bedrooms
Either very, very close to Guilford College or somewhere east of Greensboro but west of Burlington
Preferably a six month lease, but 12 months is cool, too

Thx

^ I have noticed a lot of houses for rent out near me (Whitsett). About halfway between Greensboro and Burlington. I am sure the rent on them would be around your range, since they are a little farther out and the owners don't pay city taxes.

Whitsett is a good place to look, but I've found the rental market to be bad right now for houses. There wasn't a lot available in that price range when I was looking. They were either mansions, or trailers. Not a lot in between. You may have better luck with a townhome though.

So I've got a gig working a couple of days at Castle McCulloch in Jamestown for their Castle Carnevale February 24-25.

http://www.castlemcculloch.com/festivals.asp

I know the folks who run the place and have been to this party several times. It's pretty impressive -- several thousand people show up, there are some very impressive costumes, a lot of good shows, plenty of booze, and plenty of people willing to expose themselves in public in exchange for beads. Plus it's a cool venue all the way around. And, as it happens, as an employee I've got free tickets for Friday to hand out (it's normally ~$30 to get in the gate, not sure this year). Thought maybe some Greensboro-area wolfwebbers might be interested, let me know if you are.

And don't tell me to buy a fucking ad, I don't get paid for bringing people in. This is just the first time none of my real-life friends could use the tickets, so I'm offering them to the public.

This. I actually had to slow down and put on my 4-ways on 40. I felt like my grandmother.

And it was worse when I got home. The only time Whitsett gets mentioned on the news is when we get nasty storms. According to Van Denton, we got 2 inches in about an hour.

Anyone know if they are still planning to honor the $1 beers?

I didn't wind up making it out to the game on Saturday but I wish I had. GSO had a 9 run 3rd inning in their win in game 1.

Is it just DJE and me who go see them play, or would anyone else be interested in going to a game?

TWW traffic report: some dude on Muirs Chapel tried to see how fast an Accord needs to be moving to drive through a tree. His experiment was unsuccessful and he is now dead.

Also, how do you pronounce Muirs

When I lived off the road, I pronounced it Mee-yours. But not as emphatic, it all rolls together, almost like Murrs.

Does anyone else go to the Mixed Tape Series at the Carolina Theatre? This week's movie is Goodfellas. The guy that runs it (Joe) does a great job.

The Mixed Tape Series was over at the Carousel but moved over to the Carolina Theatre in early 2011. I've seen a couple of the other movies at the Carolina Theatre but I haven't seen any live shows/concerts/plays/etc. there yet.

We're moving to Bell Brassfield in a couple of months. Any of you guys up that way?

Does anyone work for hospital? My wife works in Friendly Center and I just started at Cone. I've lived in G-boro all my life and am familiar with the city, but didn't know if you guys had any ideas for apartments closer to Cone.

I'm working 3rds so wherever we live has be to quiet during the day and working 3rds I want the wife to be safe at night. I had heard things about Country Club Apts, but I thought those were made into condos. I dunno though.

If you have any thoughts on places let me know. We're going to go ahead with Brassfield for a year, but may move closer to work after that or who knows. Most of the places I know of either won't be quiet during the day or not safe for the wife at night.

The new South Elm Urban Market set up between McCouls and Bin 33 was pretty neat. They had a good variety and most of the things were pretty reasonably priced. I'll probably start walking down for veggies once a week.

I made a film for the grand opening here: http://vimeo.com/41742324

Do you definitely want an apartment, or would you be willing to rent a house? Kirkwood area is always a good option for house rentals closer to the hospital. There are also some really cool apartments over there that a buddy of mine lived in, but I can't think of the name. I always thought it was a retirement home before he moved in, but they are really nice. Old Irving Park style, if you are into that.

oh i meant to add that Fisher Park is great at night. My wife and I have no trouble walking the dog downtown on Elm at night from our place. We even go under a scary overpass, that's about as vulnerable as it gets though.

Yeah we definitely want an apartment, we'll move to Brassfield this year. After the year lease I wanted some ideas on other areas to explore. I'll look into the "retirement" village and check them out. If you can find out the name that'll be great.

Yeah Fisher Park is pretty close to Cone so I can check it out too. I know about Kirkwood and yeah that's a good area. I'm not sure about a house, but if one was cheap enough I'm down for anything..lol

That overpass is a little scary isn't it. I've yet to walk it at night, but the wife and I have been through during the day before just exploring different parts of the city.
